On the side of the international delegates and guests, there were Ms. Khamphao Ernthavanh - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to Vietnam; Mr. Dato' Tan Yang Thai - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to Vietnam; Ms. La Binh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the People's Government of Hong Ha District (Yunnan Province, China).
Attending the opening ceremony were delegates from many provinces and cities and more than 300 domestic and foreign enterprises.
The Vietnam - China International Trade Fair is held annually alternately between Lao Cai province (Vietnam) and Yunnan province (China). This is a trade promotion activity under the national trade promotion program, jointly organized by the Trade Promotion Department - Ministry of Industry and Trade, Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee (Vietnam) in coordination with the China Association for the Promotion of International Trade, Yunnan Provincial Branch and the People's Government of Honghe District, Yunnan Province (China).
Speaking at the opening of the fair, comrade Nguyen Thanh Sinh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Fair Organizing Committee emphasized: The 25th Vietnam - China International Trade Fair (Lao Cai) in 2025 is held in a very meaningful context: Vietnam - China has just celebrated the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (January 18, 1950 - January 18, 2025); practically welcoming the success of the 5th Annual Conference between the Provincial Party Secretaries of the provinces: Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang, Dien Bien (Vietnam) and the Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee (China) on October 30, 2025 in Lai Chau province.
After 25 times of organization, the Vietnam - China International Trade Fair has increasingly expanded in scale and quality, becoming a prestigious brand and an indispensable trading platform in trade and import-export activities between the two sides; successfully promoted thousands of economic contracts, contributing significantly to the remarkable growth of import-export turnover through Lao Cai border gate, consolidating its position as a strategic trade gateway of Vietnam with the Southwest China market; at the same time, enhancing cultural exchange, strengthening trust between the business community and the people of the two provinces.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Ms. La Binh - Deputy Secretary of the Hong Ha District Party Committee, Head of the Hong Ha District People's Government said that within the framework of this fair, the China - Vietnam Cooperation Week in the Red River Basin - Hong Ha Festival 2025 will also be held in Mi Lac city, Hong Ha district, which will certainly continue to expand cooperation more deeply in the Red River basin.
Ms. La Binh believes that with the joint efforts of the governments, businesses and people of the two countries, this fair will help many businesses find open cooperation opportunities, together building the border trade fair into an international fair brand that has the power to spread to South Asian and Southeast Asian countries, contributing to building a model border development of the China-Vietnam Community of Shared Future with the motto "friendly relations, prosperous economy, stable border, close people".
The 25th Vietnam - China International Trade Fair (Lao Cai) in 2025 takes place from November 19 - 24, 2025, at Kim Thanh Exhibition and Fair Center, Lao Cai Ward, Lao Cai Province.
This year's fair has a scale of nearly 700 booths, with over 500 standard booths and 8 special exhibition areas, attracting the participation of 22 provinces/cities of Vietnam, 170 Chinese enterprises and 11 enterprises from 8 countries, with many highlights such as: diverse, rich, high-quality agricultural, forestry and fishery products; AI technology exhibition; Megalive area for online sales; exhibition area "Lao Cai - Center for connecting trade between Vietnam, ASEAN and the Southwest region, China"; Exhibition area "Lao Cai and Yunnan - Connection and Development".
This is not only an annual trade promotion event in the border area, but also a forum for comprehensive cooperation in economics, trade, investment, tourism and people-to-people exchange between localities of the two countries; creating an important opportunity to introduce the economic and investment potential of each country, helping businesses of both sides meet partners, seek investment and business opportunities for mutual benefit and development.
