Warning: Salinity level of 4‰ is penetrating deep into inland areas.

On the morning of January 12th, information from the An Giang Provincial Meteorological and Hydrological Station predicted that a salinity level of 4‰ would penetrate deep into the inland areas of the Cai Lon, Cai Be rivers and Cai San canal in An Giang province in the early morning of January 16-18. The An Giang Provincial Meteorological and Hydrological Station has issued a Level 1 saltwater intrusion warning for the Cai Lon River area. It also warns residents in affected areas not to use bottom-dwelling water during high tide; and to check salinity levels before using river and canal water for production and daily life.

Salinity intrusion tends to increase in some rivers and canals in An Giang during the dry season, affecting agricultural production. The An Giang Department of Agriculture advises people to proactively monitor salinity levels, regulate water resources appropriately, and limit water intake when salinity exceeds permissible limits to reduce damage caused by salinity intrusion.
