According to the content of the dispatch sent by the Vietnam Register to registration centers nationwide, recently a group of people impersonating the Register called car owners, asking them to transfer 10,000 VND to a bank account in the name of the Register, and at the same time instructing them to install an application (app) on their phones.
In order to prevent the above situation, the Department of Registration has issued a document requesting motor vehicle registration centers to widely propagate and inform vehicle owners of the following contents:
- The Vietnam Registry Department affirms that it has no policy of calling to request money transfers, nor does it instruct the installation of any application on the phone for the purpose of vehicle inspection or change of vehicle stamps. People need to be absolutely vigilant, do not transfer money upon request from calls or messages from strange phone numbers, and do not access fake links or apps with content related to the Registry Department.

- Previously, on October 30, 2024, the Department of Registration also issued a similar warning, after discovering that the agency's bank account continuously received small money transfers, ranging from 10,000 to 23,000 VND, from many personal accounts, most of which did not clearly state the content of the money transfer.
- Based on the transfer content with the vehicle license plate information attached, the Department of Registration proactively contacted a number of vehicle owners and discovered a sophisticated fraud.
Accordingly, a group of people called, claiming to be officers of the Department of Vehicle Registration, and announced that from October 1, 2024, this agency will change the inspection stamp model. Vehicle owners who want to change the new stamp must transfer 10,000 VND for the stamp fee and 23,000 VND for transportation fee to the Department of Vehicle Registration's account.

Not stopping there, the subjects also asked users to access a fake link of the Department of Registration website to declare personal information for the purpose of changing the stamp. When car owners access these links, the risk of information theft and money in the account is very high.
Faced with the complicated developments of the counterfeit situation, the Department of Registration has sent a document requesting the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (Ministry of Public Security) to investigate and handle the act of impersonation to defraud and appropriate property online.
