Welcoming more than 15 million visitors, Hanoi tourism accelerates for peak season

In the first 6 months of the year, Hanoi welcomed more than 15.5 million visitors, of which international visitors grew strongly with 3.66 million.

According to a report by the Hanoi Department of Tourism, in June 2025 alone, the capital welcomed about 2.79 million visitors, an increase of 15.9% over the same period last year.

International visitors reached nearly 500,000 arrivals, an increase of 21.4%, while domestic visitors were approximately 2.3 million arrivals.

In the first 6 months of 2025, Hanoi is expected to welcome 15.56 million visitors, an increase of 11.8% over the same period in 2024. The international tourist market alone reached 3.66 million, a strong growth of 22%. Of which, about 2.58 million international tourists stayed.

Total tourism revenue in the first half of this year is estimated at over VND62,300 billion. In June alone, revenue reached VND10,350 billion, up 17.2% over the same period last year.

Average room occupancy rate in the first 6 months of the year reached more than 63%, down 0.7 percentage points compared to the same period in 2024.

Currently, Hanoi has 3,761 accommodation establishments with 71,256 rooms; including 85 hotels and apartment buildings with ratings from 1 to 5 stars with a total of 11,965 rooms.

The city has 97 service businesses recognized as meeting standards to serve tourists in terms of food, shopping, entertainment and health care services.

To achieve impressive achievements in the first half of 2025, the capital's tourism industry successfully organized the Hanoi Tourism Festival, the Hanoi Tourism Gift Festival 2025... attracting tens of thousands of visitors.

Hanoi is continuously honored on the world tourism map such as being in the Top 3 most popular destinations globally (TripAdvisor), Top 25 favorite destinations of all time, Top 11 most attractive cities in the world (Time Out Magazine).

In particular, many dining establishments in Hanoi have been honored in the categories of 1 Michelin star, selected lists... contributing to attracting international diners to the capital to explore culinary culture.

By 2025, Hanoi aims to welcome 31 million tourists, including 7.5 million international visitors; total tourism revenue will reach about VND130,000 billion.

Aiming to attract visitors in the second half of 2025, in July, Hanoi will focus on preparing major events such as the Hanoi Beverage Festival, the Food and Craft Village Festival... Especially activities to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam's tourism industry and the 10th anniversary of the re-establishment of the Hanoi Department of Tourism.

The Department of Tourism will coordinate with the commune-level authorities to develop a plan to organize the opening and launch of new tourism products with the theme: "Hanoi Tourism - Convergence of Essence 2025". At the same time, coordinate with units to develop tourism products: agricultural and rural tourism products; night tourism; golf tourism; community tourism products...
