According to Hangzhou City Police (China), FaceTime is a familiar video calling application on iPhone. However, criminals have turned it into a tool for fraud and property appropriation.
They impersonate financial support staff and create panic among victims. They then ask to share screen or visit strange website.
Next, the victim is tricked into transferring money or taking out a bank loan as instructed. Once the money was received, the scammer immediately blocked the FaceTime ID and disappeared. To prevent this, users should turn off FaceTime in the iPhone Settings section.
