Recently, scams using advanced technologies like AI have become increasingly common and sophisticated. Many users have recently reported being scammed through the Messenger app.

Specifically, the perpetrators used AI face-swapping technology to commit fraud. Initially, they collected images and videos by searching for them on the victims' social media accounts or other sources to create fake videos. Then, they used AI technology to swap faces and voices, creating fake video calls to trick victims into transferring money.
During the call, the perpetrators give reasons for emergency such as accidents, debts, or the need for financial assistance, requesting immediate money transfers to accounts they provide. After the money is transferred, the perpetrators will misappropriate it.
The Cybersecurity Department advises people to be cautious when receiving calls requesting loans. First, verify the information by calling the person directly using the provided phone number to check. Do not rush to transfer money as requested in video calls or social media messages.
People need to be cautious when sharing information on social media, limiting the posting of personal images, videos, and sensitive information. Adjust privacy settings or restrict access to strangers, and be wary of unfamiliar accounts or unusual activity.
If you notice that a friend's or acquaintance's account shows signs of being hacked, immediately notify the account owner. In cases exhibiting signs of fraud, report them to the authorities for prompt action.
