The Vietnam Register has just sent a document to the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention ( Ministry of Public Security ) regarding a subject using the name of this Department to commit fraud and appropriate money online.

According to the Vietnam Register, recently, the Vietnam Register's bank account received amounts of 10-23 thousand VND transferred from personal accounts, most of which did not clearly state the content of the transfer.

The Vietnam Register recommends vehicle owners and affirms that there is no requirement to change inspection stamps, or any notice to vehicle owners about transferring money to perform the service of changing inspection stamps (illustrative photo).

Based on the information about the license plate number recorded in the money transfer content of some vehicle owners, the Vietnam Register contacted some vehicle owners. Through that, it was known that a group of subjects called the vehicle owners to inform that from October 1, 2024, the Vietnam Register will change the inspection stamp model and requested that vehicle owners who want to change the new stamp pay an amount of VND 10,000/stamp and a transportation fee of VND 23,000 to the account of the Vietnam Register.

At the same time, this group of subjects instructed vehicle owners to access a fake link of the Vietnam Registry to declare personal information for the purpose of changing the stamp. When vehicle owners access the fake link, they will be at risk of being scammed and having their money stolen.

To prevent the above situation, the Vietnam Register has issued a notice to motor vehicle inspection units to warn vehicle owners in the management area.

The Vietnam Register affirms that there is no requirement to change inspection stamps, no request or notification to vehicle owners about transferring money to perform the service of changing inspection stamps.

Vehicle owners should absolutely not transfer money to any requests or notifications from calls or messages from strange phone numbers (not publicly listed by the Vietnam Registry). At the same time, do not access fake links from the Vietnam Registry.
