Recently, on online platforms such as Facebook, Zalo, TikTok, Zoom,... reactionary and hostile forces have been taking advantage of social networks to spread illegal religious activities. This is also considered an effective tool for evil cults to propagate religion and attract ignorant people to participate...
People need to be vigilant against evil cults operating illegally in cyberspace (photo taken from the internet).
In cyberspace, there have been and are some evil cults such as: "Universal Buddhist Church", " Treasure Heaven Religion",... According to the authorities, in addition to the religious organizations that are allowed to operate, the "new religious phenomena" are all superstitious, evil, unscientific, have negative impacts on social life, and pose many complex risks to security and order. For example, "Treasure Heaven Religion" is an evil cult that is not allowed to operate in Vietnam. "Universal Buddhist Church" is also a new evil cult. This group was created on July 9, 2022 with an introduction as a gathering place for the "Elite" of the Universe, with 1.3 thousand members. The creator of this group sometimes named it "Thien Dao", sometimes named it "Giao Chu", "Nui Tu Dzi". This group often organizes live streams online to "discuss and discuss religion". However, there was no discussion, only many elderly people arguing and even cursing each other...
Along with the emergence of new cults, after a period of time when the "Church of God the Mother" was discovered and its gathering places in the province and the whole country were eliminated, recently, this association has shifted its activities to online evangelization on social networks with the use of a number of applications such as Zoom, Skype, Zavi, etc. The target audience is students, because they have a lot of time to use applications on the internet environment, so they are easily lured and drawn into associations and groups.
At the same time, these subjects also organize disguised religious activities online to target the elderly and people with incurable diseases who are easily lured into believing. The approach is very sophisticated, not using offensive spiritual images or extreme worship, but using scientific terms, philosophy of life, good stories, and logic to seduce and fascinate...
The way these groups and associations operate is relatively similar. Starting with simple "like" status lines on Facebook, Zalo, ... even using videos on TikTok, Youtube, livestreams with noble humane arguments, inviting "prey" to participate in online seminars on many social networking platforms. Once participating and believing, "prey" will join closed groups, non-public groups, only believers can register as members to participate more deeply in other activities. After that, gradually participate actively in the activities of the association, group, wholeheartedly devote to the evil cult, such as contributing to charity funds, buying books, documents, health foods ...
According to the Government Committee for Religious Affairs, as of 2022, the State has recognized and granted operating registration to more than 40 organizations belonging to 16 religions, with about 26.5 million followers, accounting for 27% of the country's population, including over 54,000 dignitaries, over 135,000 officials and nearly 30,000 places of worship. Over the years, the Party, the State and religious organizations in Vietnam have always promoted the tradition of patriotism, great national unity, living a "good life and good religion", attached to and accompanied the nation, making an important contribution to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.
Vietnam always respects the freedom of belief and religion of every citizen; strives to ensure that religions can operate normally within the framework of the law. Individuals have the right to follow or not to follow a religion; there is no discrimination on the basis of religion or belief; the activities of religious organizations are protected by law. At the same time, Vietnamese law also stipulates that no one is allowed to violate the freedom of belief and religion or take advantage of belief and religion to violate the law. However, the importation and illegal operation of evil religions on cyberspace is a violation of both law and morality, the basic principles of science, goes against good customs and traditions, offends cultural traditions, ethics, offends genuine religions, and is a factor causing instability in security and order, and the cultural environment of the people. Being drawn into and participating in the activities of evil religions in any form leaves many unnecessary consequences for the individual, family and society. Therefore, to protect themselves and their loved ones, all people must always be vigilant against the tricks of evil cults, especially in cyberspace today. To practice healthy beliefs and religions, within the framework of the law, people should choose to participate in legal religions and beliefs, be cautious and alert to new religious phenomena, and not be lured or drawn into shady and illegal spiritual activities, especially when participating in social networks. Individuals need to create a healthy cultural life, live a good life, have a correct perception of spiritual and religious activities, strengthen community connections, and support each other,... thereby forming the ability to resist activities that are hidden under the guise of religion, are anti-cultural, go against good customs and traditions as well as the provisions of the law.
