While the western gateway is locally congested and vehicles move little by little, the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City is quite "easy to breathe".
On the afternoon of May 1, the last day of the 5-day April 30-May 1 holiday, people from the Western provinces, Dong Nai , Vung Tau,... flocked back to Ho Chi Minh City to prepare for work tomorrow. Image of local traffic jam at the western gateway of Ho Chi Minh City.
Because this year is a long holiday, people are quite proactive in traveling, many people choose to return to Ho Chi Minh City earlier than planned to avoid traffic jams, as well as have time to rest before returning to the hustle and bustle of work. However, many people from the Western provinces returning to Ho Chi Minh City still cannot escape the traffic jams.
Thousands of vehicles from the Western provinces returned to Ho Chi Minh City, causing a partial traffic jam on Highway 1 through Binh Chanh District. "I planned to return to Saigon yesterday, but I missed my family so I couldn't bear to leave early. If I had returned yesterday, the traffic jam would have been less, but today the traffic jam was too much, so I inched my way from Binh Dien Bridge to here," said Trinh Hoang (from Ben Tre ).
The sudden increase in the number of people riding motorbikes has caused overload at the western gateway of Ho Chi Minh City.
Many people with bulky luggage on their cars were quite tired after just getting out of the traffic jam.
To ensure traffic safety and regulate traffic flow, traffic police were mobilized to the maximum to be on duty for many hours at the western gateway to perform their duties.
Traffic police officers weave through the crowded traffic at the intersection to regulate traffic.
Due to the prolonged congestion on Highway 1, the traffic police had a hard time regulating traffic. Traffic police officers constantly changed positions to regulate traffic and ensure smooth traffic flow.
Meanwhile, Mien Tay bus station is also quite crowded. Many people from the Western provinces such as Kien Giang, Ca Mau, An Giang ,... choose to take the bus back to Ho Chi Minh City instead of going by motorbike.
Passengers carrying cumbersome luggage walk out to the street to catch a taxi or technology car
The route through the gate of Mien Tay bus station is quite busy but there is no traffic jam.
While the western gateway is locally congested, the eastern gateway of Ho Chi Minh City is quite "easy to breathe", without the prolonged traffic jams like before the holiday.
Many bus passengers get off at Mai Chi Tho Street, then walk across An Phu intersection to catch a bus home. Since there is no traffic jam in this area, it is convenient for passengers to walk.
An Phu intersection is one of the "hot spots" for traffic jams, but on the last day of the holiday, it was quite clear, with vehicles returning from the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway to Ho Chi Minh City moving normally.
