The Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet highway (passing through Lam Dong province) was suddenly flooded with sand, causing traffic jams for many hours.
On September 3, Project Management Board 7 ( Ministry of Construction ) - the investor of the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet expressway project informed that early in the morning of the same day, the unit had completed the sand spill incident on the expressway passing through Ham Liem commune.
According to initial information, at around 10 p.m. on September 2, heavy rain lasting for many hours caused sand from residential areas to flow onto the highway section passing through km215+300, in the north-south direction.
At the scene, rainwater and sand flooded a stretch of about 100 meters long and 0.5 meters high, covering the entire road surface. The incident caused many vehicles traveling through this area to encounter many difficulties, potentially causing traffic safety problems .
Upon receiving the news, the Traffic Police force of Highway Traffic Control Patrol Team No. 6 (Department 6, Traffic Police Department) temporarily closed a part of the road, regulated vehicles exiting the highway, traveling along National Highway 28 to go to National Highway 1.
At the same time, 886-Thanh Nam Construction Investment Joint Stock Company (the Expressway Management Unit) temporarily stopped the water flow and cleared the sand and soil that had overflowed onto the road. After more than 3 hours, the sand was cleared and traffic through the area returned to normal. The cause is being investigated by the authorities.
