Couple forced to divorce after law firm employee made mistake on online portal.

Mr and Mrs Williams, who live in London, have been married for 21 years. They decided to separate in 2023. They are still in the process of settling their finances. They filed their case with the famous law firm Vardags in London.
According to the Nypost, while an employee of the law firm was trying to submit another couple’s divorce documents to the online portal, he mistakenly sent the Williams’ file. The divorce was confirmed after just 21 minutes.
The incident forced the couple to divorce after more than 20 years of living together.
Two days after the “accident,” the law firm discovered the incident and took action. The lawyers attempted to file a request with the high court to overturn the divorce order, but were denied.
The company's representative claimed that the employee had accidentally selected the Williams' file, but the judge said that in fact, it took several steps on the portal to get to the point where the final divorce order was issued.
Ayesha Vardag, head of the law firm, said the court had been too harsh in its ruling.
"When a mistake is brought to court and everyone accepts that it was a mistake, it is clear that the mistake needs to be corrected.
But here we cannot fix it, the couple divorced just because of an error that occurred on the online system. This is not right, unreasonable and unfair," she explained.
