The National Week for Clean Water and Rural Environmental Sanitation, launched by the Prime Minister in 1998, is held annually from April 29th to May 6th. In 2026, the Rural Clean Water Center reported to the Department of Agriculture and Environment, advising the Provincial People's Committee to co-organize, with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and UNICEF Vietnam, the launching ceremony for the National Week for Clean Water and Rural Environmental Sanitation at Nhữ Khê Secondary School. The launching ceremony aimed to raise awareness among all levels, sectors, and the community about protecting water resources and maintaining environmental sanitation.

Mr. Nguyen The Quang, Deputy Head of the Rural Water Supply Project Management Board under the Rural Clean Water Center, said: Previously, on April 23rd and 24th, at Hoa An Primary School and Phu Linh Secondary School, the Center coordinated with the Youth Union of the two communes to organize a painting competition in response to the 2026 National Week of Clean Water and Rural Environmental Sanitation. The competition attracted over 400 students, teenagers, and children from the two communes. Through their innocent and creative perspectives, the children expressed their dreams, thoughts, and feelings about a green, clean, and beautiful living environment. Many works reflected practical actions in protecting water resources and using water economically, while also criticizing behaviors that cause environmental pollution. This contributed to shaping the awareness and role of the younger generation as active communicators in the community.

Along with communication efforts, the Rural Water Supply Center has been strictly implementing the management, operation, and exploitation of centralized water supply systems in the province. According to Mr. Cao Xuan Huy, Head of the Planning and Technical Department of the Rural Water Supply Center, the Center currently manages 75 water supply systems. Of these, 37 are operating sustainably, 16 are operating relatively sustainably; the rest are operating inefficiently and are being gradually reviewed and upgraded. Notably, the Center has promoted the application of information technology and digital transformation in management and operation. Specifically, it has deployed customer management software for updating and checking meter readings, monitoring water consumption and revenue. In addition, some systems have been equipped with automatic monitoring systems (flow rate, pressure, flow direction, etc.) combined with management software, allowing for remote monitoring and operation of system equipment. The application of technology has contributed to modernizing production processes, improving operational efficiency, reducing water loss, and ensuring a safe and stable supply of clean water for the people. Thanks to the synchronized implementation of solutions, the percentage of rural residents in the province with access to hygienic water has steadily increased. Currently, the percentage of rural households with access to hygienic water is over 96.9%, of which over 51.3% have access to clean water that meets standards.

In the coming period, the Rural Water Supply Center will continue to promote awareness campaigns and improve community understanding; strengthen the application of digital technology in the management and operation of water supply facilities; and mobilize the participation of people in protecting water sources and using water efficiently and effectively. This will contribute to improving the efficiency of water supply facilities and moving towards sustainable rural water supply development.
