At the announcement ceremony of the Michelin Key global hotel rating system on October 8, Michelin Guide officially introduced the list of honored hotels in 2025, marking a historic milestone when the Michelin brand – after more than a century of defining culinary standards with the Michelin star system – expanded into the accommodation service sector for the first time.
After months of careful evaluation by a team of anonymous judges, Vietnam made its debut in the ranking system with 13 hotels and resorts honored, including two hotels with Three Michelin Keys, three hotels with Two Michelin Keys and eight hotels with One Michelin Key.

Among the honored hotels, Capella Hanoi (Hanoi) of Sun Group is one of only two hotels in Vietnam to receive Three Michelin Keys – the highest rating in the system, reserved for accommodations that offer the world’s best experiences. Along with that, Hotel de la Coupole – MGallery (Sa Pa, Lao Cai) was awarded One Michelin Key, recognizing a unique stay experience in the heart of the misty town of Sa Pa.
These are two outstanding representatives of Vietnam in this list, showing two outstanding touches of the luxury hotel industry: a sophisticated and luxurious Hanoi; and a romantic Sa Pa, imbued with the highland art. This achievement is evaluated by Michelin as an impressive debut of Vietnam on the world luxury tourism map, affirming Vietnam's increasingly prominent position in the field of international-class resorts.

Born with the mission of expanding Michelin's evaluation standards from cuisine to accommodation, Michelin Key is considered the "Michelin star for the hotel industry", a new standard for the art of hospitality and accommodation experience.
The Michelin Guide has compiled a list of more than 7,000 hotels in more than 125 countries. The hotels on the list are selected based on five global criteria: The hotel is a gateway to the journey of discovering the destination; Excellent interior design and architecture; Quality and consistency in service quality, comfort and maintenance; Consistency between the quality of experience and price; Affirming its own identity, reflecting personality and authenticity. The criteria focus on the overall stay experience rather than just considering amenities, aiming to set a new international standard for quality hotel service.
Key hotels are classified into three levels: One Key for an exceptional stay; Two Key for a great stay; and Three Key – the highest level – for an outstanding stay. Michelin describes Three Key hotels as “a destination for the trip of a lifetime.”

Capella Hanoi Hotel was praised by Michelin as “a hotel that recreates the spirit of opera through sophisticated design, immersing guests in the cultural pulse of the city.”
Less than a 5-minute walk from the Grand Palace and the Old Quarter, the hotel, designed by renowned architect Bill Bensley and inspired by the golden age of opera, tells the story of Hanoi's history and art in the 1920s.
With 47 rooms, the hotel conquers visitors with its sophisticated service, highly personalized living space and meticulousness in every smallest detail. Since its opening, Capella Hanoi has quickly become a favorite destination for many domestic and foreign tourists. Capella Hanoi is also the only hotel in Vietnam with 3 restaurants honored by Michelin Guide 2025, including Hibana by Koki - maintaining 1 prestigious Michelin star for the third consecutive year.
