Carragher: 'Cunha is the perfect piece for MU'

Carragher highly appreciates MU's Cunha deal.

Carragher commented: "I think this is a great signing, the perfect piece for United. Everyone knows that coach Amorim wants to play with a system of two number 10s. Cunha is an excellent player and I really like the way he plays. Cunha has made a strong impression and is one of the brightest stars of the season."

On May 19, Athletic confirmed that Cunha had agreed to a move to Old Trafford and that personal terms had been agreed. MU will pay a release clause to sign Cunha, which is around £62.5 million.

Having joined Wolves as a centre-forward, Cunha has evolved and thrived as an attacking midfielder and on the wings. Dribbling from the left flank and cutting straight through the middle are Cunha's strengths.

Carragher believes Cunha's arrival will threaten Alejandro Garnacho's place. Although the Argentine has scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists this season, Carragher believes Garnacho does not fit into Amorim's tactical system like Cunha.

“Cunha would occupy one of the positions that Garnacho used to play. I am concerned that if a reasonable offer comes in for Garnacho, Manchester United might consider selling him,” Carragher analyzed.

Both Chelsea and Napoli are monitoring Garnacho's situation and are ready to make offers. United are said to be considering offers of around £65m for Garnacho.
