Củi Lũ Village - an art space with a message of environmental protection.
Driftwood Village in Dong Na hamlet, Hoi An city, was born from the idea of artist Le Ngoc Thuan, a Hoi An native famous for his journey in painting and sculpting, regenerating the life cycle of floodwood – pieces of wood seemingly discarded by floodwaters – into creative works of art. He has participated in many exhibitions both domestically and internationally, often known as "Thuan the Floodwood" and "Vietnam's Ambassador of Recycled Art".
The Củi Lũ Village space is designed using environmentally friendly materials such as wood and thatch. It features exhibition areas showcasing thousands of handcrafted artworks, including models of Hoi An Ancient Town, the Japanese Bridge, zodiac animals, statues of the Co Tu ethnic group, and marine creatures. All the works are entirely handmade and deeply rooted in Vietnamese culture.
Additionally, there are check-in areas and experiential zones where visitors can personally learn about and watch artisans demonstrate wood carving techniques, learn woodworking skills, and transform seemingly discarded pieces of wood into unique works of art. This fosters greater awareness of the importance of using recycled materials and spreads the message of environmental protection.
