Due to their unique living habits, squid usually forage at night, so this is when boats turn on their lights and begin catching them. According to experienced fishermen, the months of February to May and July to October are when squid are most abundant.
Fishermen catch squid in two ways: by fishing with a rod and by using nets. After being caught, the squid are placed in a compartment of the boat filled with seawater – this is how they are kept fresh.
When the fishermen's work is finished, other tasks begin, including delivering squid to floating restaurants.
