Indonesian naturalized player unemployed, turns to selling clothes

(Dan Tri) - After being fired by Premier League club Swansea City, naturalized midfielder Nathan Tjoe-A-On of the Indonesian national team has stepped up his clothing sales.

According to Indonesian and European media, Dutch-born Indonesian player Nathan Tjoe-A-On has a contract with Swansea City until June 30, 2026. However, the Welsh team playing in the Premier League decided to fire the Indonesian player early.

CNN Indonesia said: “It is still unknown where Nathan Tjoe-A-On will go after leaving Swansea City. The club has decided to part ways with the Indonesian player early.”

“Without finding a new club, Nathan Tjoe-A-On is busy with his personal activities, related to the fashion industry ,” CNN Indonesia added.

Nathan Tjoe-A-On joined the Indonesian national team in 2024. This player is 23 years old, 1m82 tall, and can play in two positions: defensive midfielder and left back. When he first joined the Indonesian team, Nathan Tjoe-A-On relied on his good background to convince the Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI) to give him a chance.

However, recently, many problems have appeared with this Dutch player. He is currently unemployed, and no professional club has accepted Nathan Tjoe-A-On.

Taking advantage of this time, Nathan Tjoe-A-On is focusing on developing his own fashion brand.

CNN Indonesia shared: “Nathan Tjoe-A-On launched a new fashion product a few months ago. However, the marketing activities for this product have only been carried out in recent days, after he officially left Swansea City Club.”

“As for his skills, since joining Swansea City in 2023, Nathan Tjoe-A-On has rarely played. Last season, he only played one match in the Premier League and twice in the English League Cup,” CNN Indonesia wrote.

The worrying thing for the Indonesian team at the moment is that not only Nathan Tjoe-A-On is unemployed, but they also have 5 other players in the same situation. Indonesia will participate in the 4th round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in Asia this coming October.
