Vietnam U23 is the champion of the two recent Asian U23 tournaments, so it is highly appreciated in this tournament. Commenting on the strength of Vietnam U23, Tribun Pontianak (Indonesia) wrote: “Vietnam U23 is the number 1 seed based on their achievements in this tournament.
The strengths of the Vietnamese youth football team are discipline, well-organized tactics and a high fighting spirit. Over the years, the Vietnam U23 team has become a major force in Southeast Asian football. They have continuously shown impressive results in many international tournaments, including the SEA Games and the Asian U23 tournament.
Of course, U23 Vietnam is rated much higher than the two opponents in the same group, U23 Laos and U23 Cambodia.
Although highly appreciating U23 Vietnam, Tribun Pontianak newspaper still reminded coach Kim Sang Sik and his team to be careful with Laos and Cambodia.
The newspaper added: “Despite not having much experience, Cambodia U23 has shown significant progress. They have attracted attention in youth tournaments in recent years.
Meanwhile, U23 Laos is often underestimated but they often play with determination and cause difficulties for opponents with fast and strong play. That is the factor that can help them create surprises.

With a tight schedule, teams do not have much time to recover and evaluate tactics between matches. Team stability and depth will be important factors in helping each team find a ticket to the semi-finals.
Group B is likely to witness surprises when it brings together three teams playing in three different styles. U23 Vietnam is very strong, but U23 Cambodia is a team with great potential, and U23 Laos is very strong in fighting spirit. This group can bring excitement and unpredictability."
The U23 Southeast Asian Championship will take place from July 15-29. This is the warm-up tournament for U23 Vietnam before the qualifying round for the U23 Asian Championship and the 2025 SEA Games.
