The European Union (EU) Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) has officially entered a transitional phase, setting new requirements for businesses exporting to this market. Along with that, Vietnam is also preparing to pilot the domestic carbon market from June, according to the roadmap approved by the Government . These are important steps in the effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, while opening up opportunities and challenges for Vietnamese businesses.
To meet the new requirements, businesses need to understand the carbon pricing mechanism, from how CBAM works to the specific regulations of the domestic carbon market.
In response to the question “How to comply while maintaining competitive advantage?” of many Vietnamese enterprises, the discussion “From CBAM to carbon market - New compliance roadmap for Vietnamese enterprises” with the participation of keynote speaker Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong - Deputy Head of Carbon Market Department, Department of Climate Change, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment will help enterprises answer this question, and at the same time suggest strategies to take advantage of opportunities from new market requirements, especially for import-export enterprises.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong is an expert on carbon pricing in Vietnam, with experience in building legal frameworks and participating in international cooperation mechanisms on climate such as the Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM), Article 6 of the Paris Agreement, which stipulates international cooperation mechanisms to support countries in achieving greenhouse gas emission reduction targets in a more flexible and effective manner, and the ASEAN Carbon Market.
At the seminar, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong is expected to share with readers updated information on CBAM and its impact on Vietnam's key export industries; roadmap for implementing the domestic carbon market (including preparation steps from now until June); specific solutions that businesses can implement immediately to meet carbon emission requirements.
With insights from the perspective of state management agencies, the information provided promises to help businesses better understand the policies and actions needed to avoid falling behind in the global “green” race.
The event is part of the online talk show series "Talk GreenBiz - Green Growth Compass" organized by the Fund for Green Future - Vingroup Corporation in collaboration with Dan Tri newspaper, which will be broadcast live on the Dan Tri newspaper platform (including YouTube and Facebook channels) , as well as on the official fanpage of the Fund for Green Future on June 23.
