The 4.5km road from Quan Son to Huu Kien ( Lang Son ) used to be a nightmare for people because of its winding steep passes.

“When surveying this terrain, we found that if people had to move at night, especially on stormy days, without lights, it would be very dangerous,” said Ms. Ly Thi Ngoc Dung, Secretary of the Youth Union of Hanoi University of Culture. This is the reason why the school’s volunteer student team, with the support of the Green Future Fund, is determined to bring “green light” to the people here.

Installing 100 lamp posts in the hot sun and on steep terrain with many streams is a big challenge for students of Hanoi University of Culture.

“The weather in Lang Son is extremely hot, carrying each lamp post up steep slopes and wading through streams is the biggest obstacle and challenge. But every time we see the lights come on and see the joy of the people, we forget all our fatigue,” student To Uyen recounted.

Also in this program, the volunteer team of Hanoi University of Science and Technology completed the installation of 105 lamp posts in Thai Nguyen and Ninh Binh . The construction process requires high precision, the student technicians have carefully calculated from drilling holes on hard rock ground to installing solar panels to optimize absorption capacity, ensuring stable and long-term lighting.

Lighting up faith in a green future

What is special is that the scale of the campaign has spread throughout regions from North to South. In Hue City, the Youth Union of universities has implemented many lighting projects in mountainous areas lacking electricity. The border commune of Long Quang is one of the priority areas. Mr. Tran Quoc Vuong, Secretary of the Youth Union of Phu Xuan University, said: “This is a mountainous commune with a serious lack of electricity, especially at night. The route we chose is 600m long, an important inter-village road connecting residential communities.”

Meanwhile, in Nam Dong, where the Hue University School of Tourism is implementing the project, student volunteers are also supporting disease prevention efforts. The students had to adjust their plans, working with the police, soldiers and local militia during the day to dig holes to bury infected livestock, and only focusing on installing lighting systems at night to keep up with the schedule.

In A Luoi 4 commune, students from the University of Foreign Languages - Hue University overcame the erratic weather of the highlands to bring light to Ba Lach village, where floods and landslides often occur.

Mr. Nguyen Dac Hinh, Secretary of the Youth Union of A Luoi 4 Commune, shared: "Since the lights were installed, people, especially students, can play comfortably at night, no longer worrying about security and order issues."

In the south, Son My commune, Lam Dong province after the merger has isolated areas. People used to have to go through deserted roads 3-4 km long to reach the densely populated areas. But now, the roads are lit.

Ms. Huong Chi, a local resident, used to worry about the dangerous dark road, often lurking with bad guys looking to rob. “Now that there are lights, everyone feels more secure,” Ms. Huong Chi said emotionally. The special thing this year is that 100% of the projects use solar lights, ensuring both technical and economic aspects, and demonstrating a commitment to sustainable development.

The results of the “Green Light” campaign are truly impressive, with 33,600 meters of rural roads lit from North to South, directly benefiting more than 70,000 people in remote areas.

From remote villages in the highlands to red dirt roads in remote countryside, the Green Summer 2025 campaign, with the support of the Green Future Fund, has not only brought light to every road, but also ignited the belief in a green future, where sustainable development is closely linked to the hearts and hands of young people.

The Green Future Fund, established by Vingroup on July 7, 2023, has the mission of contributing to the Government's goal of reducing net emissions to "zero" by 2050.
