Nearly 22,000 prisoners nationwide will be pardoned in 2025.

HNN.VN - On the morning of December 4, the Ministry of Public Security held a conference to review the amnesty work and community reintegration work for amnestied people in 2025 in both online and in-person formats. Politburo member, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Amnesty Advisory Council Nguyen Hoa Binh chaired the conference at the Ministry of Public Security's bridge.

Colonel Kieu Duc Tinh, Deputy Director of the City Police Department chaired the conference at the Hue City bridge point.

2025 has many important events, major holidays, and is a pivotal year opening a new era. With such special significance, the Party and the State have decided to implement amnesty in 2 phases in 2025. Specifically, the first phase will be on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and the second phase will be on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and National Day September 2 (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025 and September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) with a wider scope, scale, conditions, and subjects than in previous years.

Specifically, nearly 8,000 people nationwide were granted amnesty in the first phase and nearly 14,000 people in the second phase. The rate of people returning to their local residence reached over 98%. Of these, more than 12,800 people found jobs after returning to the community.

Ensuring the rights of those granted amnesty has also been fully implemented, such as: supporting more than 4.1 billion VND in travel expenses; supporting community reintegration with nearly 1.4 billion VND; paying labor costs of more than 5.5 billion VND and returning 43.5 billion VND in deposit money.

In Hue City, in 2025, the amnesty work in both the first and second phases will be seriously organized and implemented, ensuring democracy, objectivity, fairness, publicity, transparency, strictness, correct subjects, and conditions according to the Amnesty Law 2018, the President 's Decision on amnesty in 2025 and the Guidance of the Amnesty Advisory Council. Thereby, ensuring that all eligible prisoners are considered for amnesty according to regulations.

Through two amnesty periods, the City Police Detention Center recorded the largest number of pardoned prisoners ever, with 34 prisoners. Most of the pardoned prisoners returned to their places of residence to stabilize their lives and work honestly, and no cases of law violations were detected in the locality.
