Developing green tourism in Vietnam in the new context

On the morning of December 5, in Lam Dong, the Vietnam National Tourism Administration organized the annual National Green Tourism Forum, discussing solutions and building an action framework for developing green tourism in the new context.

The forum was attended by Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration; Mr. Ha Van Sieu, Deputy Director; Ms. Nguyen Lan Ngoc, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong; and representatives of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, local departments, associations, tourism businesses, training institutions, scientists , policy experts and experts from Switzerland.

This is the first annual forum, organized with the aim of raising awareness and promoting practical actions of agencies, businesses and communities in developing green tourism, aiming at the image of civilized, sustainable and highly competitive Vietnamese tourism.

Speaking at the forum, Director Nguyen Trung Khanh emphasized that the Vietnam tourism development strategy until 2030 has clearly defined the task of promoting green tourism. He affirmed that green tourism is not a temporary slogan, but a comprehensive development mindset, requiring the participation of the whole society to change the method of exploiting resources, providing services and adjusting the consumption habits of tourists.

Each of your contributions at this Forum is an important brick, building a roadmap for green tourism in Vietnam.

At the forum, delegates focused on discussing two main topics: Overview of green tourism development in Vietnam from a multi-stakeholder perspective and Action framework for green tourism development in the new context. Representatives of Swiss experts, local managers and tourism businesses shared many experiences and proposed solutions to promote sustainable development.

The forum also recorded opinions on enhancing the responsibility of businesses, tourists and the community; promoting digital transformation; developing green, safe and environmentally friendly destinations; thereby contributing to building the tourism industry into a spearhead economic sector, both attracting tourists, protecting the environment and preserving indigenous cultural values.
