More opportunities for the province's tourism industry to grow

The project to build the Dan Thanh Inland Waterway Terminal (Duyen Hai Ward) has just started. This is considered an important event that has been enthusiastically welcomed by local authorities and tourism businesses inside and outside the province. The project not only aims to develop the marine economy , but also creates more opportunities for the tourism industry in Vinh Long in particular and the whole Mekong Delta region to grow.

Level IV traffic project worth nearly 80 billion VND

According to Decision No. 228/QD-BQLGT, dated September 3, 2025 on approving the design of construction drawings and construction estimates for the construction project of Dan Thanh Inland Waterway Wharf, Duyen Hai Town (now Duyen Hai Ward) approved by the Provincial Traffic Project Management Board, this is a level IV traffic project, with a construction value of nearly 80 billion VND, from the provincial budget.

Dan Thanh inland waterway port, also known as the ship landing port, is designed with a bridge length of 86m, a bridge width of 10m; management and operation area; waiting room; logistics service provision... built on an area of about ^6,200m2 . The access road alone is 920m long and auxiliary works such as: power supply system, water supply - drainage, trees and lighting...

Mr. Truong Cong Minh Thien - Deputy Director of the Provincial Traffic Project Management Board (investor) said: The project aims to gradually complete the key tasks and goals of tourism development in the spirit of the Resolution of the 11th Tra Vinh Provincial Party Congress, term 2020-2025. In addition to expanding the scope of tourism development, it not only serves the needs of people in the area but also connects with other localities, attracting more potential tourists to the province. At the same time, it is a point of transporting goods for Duyen Hai ward as well as neighboring areas, creating conditions to promote local socio-economic development.

Sharing the same joy

In addition to the above objectives, when put into operation, Dan Thanh Inland Waterway Terminal also aims at a key task, which is to connect the waterway between Vinh Long and the Mekong Delta provinces with Con Dao - a destination of great interest to domestic and foreign tourists.

This is considered an important milestone in the province's strategy for developing transport and tourism infrastructure. The project not only has the meaning of inter-regional connectivity but also opens up new expectations for the service-tourism business community.

Excited about the project's implementation, comrade Duong Van Trieu - Provincial Party Committee member, Party Secretary of Duyen Hai Ward said: The establishment of Dan Thanh inland waterway port not only meets the expectations of the provincial leaders, but also meets the expectations of people inside and outside the province. When put into operation, it will contribute to promoting the socio-economic development of the province in general, including Duyen Hai Ward.

Together with Dinh An Economic Zone in Duyen Hai ward (with a general seaport), Dan Thanh Inland Waterway Terminal will create a big push to promote the province's economy, especially implementing the province's marine economic strategy in the spirit of the Resolution of the 1st Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030.

Talking to us, many tourism businesses attending the project groundbreaking ceremony on the morning of November 28 expressed their joy.

Ms. Ho Diem Phuong - Director of Tra Vinh Events and Tourism Company Limited, headquartered in Nguyet Hoa Ward, shared: After the establishment of Dan Thanh Inland Waterway Terminal, a waterway route by high-speed boat connecting Vinh Long with Con Dao will be formed. This is truly the "expected boat route" that our businesses are looking forward to. Vinh Long - Con Dao high-speed boat terminal will open up a new direction of tourism connection for the province.

When completed, this ferry route will help passengers travel to Con Dao more conveniently and shorten travel time significantly compared to the routes currently in operation; creating conditions for tourists to combine visits to Con Chim and Con Ong, forming a unique river-spiritual-resort tourism chain.

Some small businesses in Duyen Hai ward expect that Dan Thanh Inland Waterway Terminal will help expand tourism logistics services such as: shuttle buses, restaurants, rest stops and shopping for local specialties... Some road transport units will also study to establish a shuttle bus route from the provincial center to the terminal, creating a chain of all-inclusive operating services for tourists, contributing to the sustainable development of the province's economy in the coming years.
