Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh, Thu Ich 3 village, Lien Chau commune, and her family always practice the habit of collecting and classifying garbage at home.
From small trash can to big habit
In Lien Chau commune, the “Green Living” model starts with seemingly simple actions but brings practical results. After each meal or cleaning the house, Ms. Hoang Thi Thom and her family always practice the habit of collecting and sorting garbage at home. Organic waste, inorganic waste and recyclable waste are separated before being taken out. This habit has been maintained for nearly two years, since the Women's Union of the commune launched the movement to collect and sort waste at the source and the Campaign “Building a family of 5 no, 3 clean”.

The model of waste classification at source has been replicated and spread to many families in Lien Chau commune.
Ms. Hoang Thi Thom shared: “The Women’s Union promotes and guides specific classification. My family buys separate trash bins, organic waste is in one bin, and plastic bottles and beer cans are kept separately to sell to raise public funds. I find waste classification very practical.”
Thu Ich 3 Village is one of the pioneering residential areas in this model. After many years of persistent implementation, the villagers have clearly seen the positive value that this habit brings. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh said: “My family has a bin divided into many compartments, one for inorganic waste, one for organic waste, one for plastic bottles. The inorganic waste is periodically collected and transported by the collection unit, while plastic and bottles are sold. As for organic waste, we take it to the garden to dig a hole to bury it as green manure for plants, which is both clean and contributes to making the environment clean and beautiful.”
Spreading the power of breakthrough models
From the values seen, the model of waste classification at source was quickly replicated and spread to many families in the province. To ensure accurate classification, the Women's Union at all levels actively coordinated with departments and branches to organize many communication sessions, directly instructing families on how to classify and reuse waste in production and daily life.

People of Lien Chau commune join hands to build a green, clean and beautiful environment.
Ms. Dao Thi Sau, Thu Ich 3 village, emphasized the role of women: "I myself did it first and propagated it to family members and neighbors to join hands in building a green - clean - beautiful environment right at home, towards building a model residential village."
From the Campaign "Building a family of 5 no's, 3 clean's" there have been many creative movements and models, aiming to build a clean family and a clean environment: Clean from home to alley; women's self-managed route saying no to plastic waste; Green Sunday.

Lien Chau commune aims to build clean families and a fresh environment.
With perseverance and efforts, the appearance of the residential area has been bright - green - clean - beautiful, contributing to the construction of new rural areas. Ms. Bui Thi Xuan Thu - President of the Women's Union of Lien Chau commune affirmed: "In the past time, the Union has implemented many practical activities to attract members to participate. Each family is instructed to classify organic waste, recyclable waste and household waste. In the coming time, we will continue to replicate good models and increase training so that waste classification at source really becomes a regular action in each family".

Each family in Lien Chau commune is instructed to classify organic waste, recyclable waste and household waste.
In area 22, Tu Vu commune, the message “The environment is kind to us” has been materialized through a meaningful model: Collecting plastic waste to raise charity funds. Recyclable waste such as plastic bottles, nylon bags, metals, and scrap paper are collected by women in the area and put into more than 10 charity bins.
Ms. Vu Thi Hong Minh - Head of the Plastic Waste Reduction Club in Area 22 Hoang Xa, Tu Vu Commune shared: "This is a two-pronged approach, both keeping the environment green - clean - beautiful and helping those in difficult circumstances and orphans. The model has had 4 bins since its launch, and now has 10 - 12 charity bins, bringing practical results."
Community power to overcome challenges
Although the models have spread widely, in reality, there are still some households that do not strictly comply with regulations and litter indiscriminately. Local authorities and Women's Unions at all levels are stepping up propaganda and are determined to replicate the model further.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Ngan, Tam Nong commune, shared her experience: “At first, I thought that waste classification was difficult, but when the Commune Women's Union gave specific instructions, it was simple. My family has 3 separate trash bins: organic waste, recyclable waste and other waste. The house is clean and tidy, and the children are much more aware than before.”
Ms. Cao Thi Thu Phuong - Vice Chairwoman of Tam Nong Commune People's Committee affirmed: "The commune government strengthens coordination with the Women's Union to replicate the model throughout the commune. When people see the positive, green - clean - beautiful environment, they will encourage each other to implement it, contributing to the commune to maintain the criteria of new rural areas and strengthen the spirit of community solidarity."
From the simple but practical actions of each family, the message of a green - clean - beautiful environment is spreading in the community. When each person proactively changes their habits, each family becomes a green nucleus, creating the strength of the community to join hands to protect the living environment.
