The fundamental advantages make it highly attractive to South Korean businesses.
For many years, Phu Tho has been among the leading provinces in Northern Vietnam in attracting South Korean FDI. Large-scale projects such as Daewoo Bus, Patron Vina, Interflex, Haesung Vina... along with a system of satellite businesses in the fields of electronic components, precision mechanics, engineering plastics, and supporting materials have made a clear mark. These businesses not only bring advanced technology to Vietnam but also attract hundreds of first and second-tier businesses, gradually forming a South Korean-style industrial ecosystem spreading throughout the province.

Solum Vina Co., Ltd., located in Ba Thien 2 Industrial Park (Binh Xuyen commune), is a 100% South Korean-invested company specializing in the development of high-tech electronic components.
A prominent feature of Korean businesses in Phu Tho is their strict adherence to quality standards and operational discipline. Companies such as Interflex Vina (components for Samsung), Haesung Vina (camera lenses), Doowon Vina (automotive components), Namuga, and JNTC Vina (screen and camera protective glass) have all invested comprehensively in R&D, quality control, laboratories, and internal vocational training systems. The cluster production model, with a main factory and satellite businesses, along with the application of PPM criteria, data traceability, and automation, has helped enhance the capacity of supporting industries and strengthen Phu Tho's position in the global value chain.
When directly interacting with Korean businesses, it's clear that investors value the province's advantages most highly: favorable location, reasonable costs, clean land, and transparent administrative procedures. However, the two decisive "plus points" are a stable electricity supply and an abundant workforce.
Regarding power grid infrastructure, Phu Tho has "taken a step ahead" by continuously upgrading its power infrastructure: the Phu Tho 2 220kV substation is scheduled to be commissioned in 2025; the Ba Thien 220kV substation (formerly in Vinh Phuc) has completed phase 1; many new 110kV substations have been built, and the 110-500kV transmission grid is closely interconnected. As a result, businesses operate continuously, reducing the risk of downtime – a key factor in the global supply chain.
In terms of human resources, Phu Tho and neighboring provinces possess a young, disciplined workforce well-suited to the electronics, precision mechanics, and semiconductor post-production industries. A "skills pathway" has been established through vocational schools, colleges, and technical universities in collaboration with Korean businesses, enabling new investors to quickly recruit staff and begin operations sooner.
"Soft infrastructure" continues to strengthen confidence with the one-stop shop model – ensuring timely and effective operation; the digitalization process is being accelerated; clear points of contact for handling documents; a mechanism for quickly resolving obstacles; and aftercare programs providing direct support to individual businesses. Particularly during the COVID-19 period, the province closely coordinated with central agencies to maintain production and build long-term trust with the Korean business community.
Thanks to these foundations, South Korean FDI in Phu Tho has continuously grown. As of October 15, 2025, the province had 729 FDI projects with a total capital of US$13.198 billion; of which 387 were South Korean projects, accounting for 53% of the projects and 40% of the total investment capital - mainly in the fields of electronics, circuit boards, and garments.
A proactive government - Businesses can invest with confidence for the long term.
Phu Tho province affirms its consistent stance: "The success of investors is the success of the province." With Korean businesses, the province is committed to accompanying them throughout the entire project lifecycle, from surveying and licensing to implementation, operation, and expansion. A one-stop shop mechanism – ensuring timely service – is effectively implemented on a digital platform; all processes, forms, and processing deadlines are publicly available on the digital platform; businesses can track progress in real time. When problems arise, the system has an "escalation" mechanism for immediate resolution. The province maintains regular thematic dialogues with the Korean Embassy, KOTRA, and KOCHAM, and has established a Korean Desk as a dedicated support point, receiving bilingual Korean-Vietnamese documents, facilitating quick connections between businesses and relevant departments and agencies.
Regarding infrastructure, the province proactively prepares clean land and fully completes roads, electricity, water, and telecommunications to the construction sites. All industrial parks have wastewater treatment systems that meet standards. For industries requiring absolutely stable power supply, such as precision mechanics, electronics, and semiconductors, the province closely coordinates with the power sector to ensure continuous supply.
For strategic projects, Phu Tho prioritizes rapid land clearance, completion of off-site infrastructure, and adjustment of investment plans to suit business needs. In particular, for the specific requirements of Korean investors, the province is ready to "design to order" within the legal framework, offering incentives such as tax and land subsidies, streamlined online procedures, flexible work schedules, and meeting "time-to-market" requirements.
Human resources continue to be a crucial pillar. The province commissions training programs based on Korean business standards, supports recruitment, develops worker housing and essential services; promotes FDI-DDI connections through Supplier Matching Day, provides ISO/IATF standard consulting, and builds shared laboratories and testing facilities to increase localization rates and reduce logistics costs. After licensing, inter-agency task forces continue to provide after-care support, promptly addressing issues related to labor, environment, procedures, and infrastructure to ensure businesses can confidently expand.
A strategic springboard to integrate Phu Tho into the high-tech value chain.
Korean investment has become a crucial driving force behind the province's socio -economic growth. In this new phase, the province has identified three key sectors to attract Korean investors. Firstly, supporting semiconductors and smart electronics. The province prioritizes attracting businesses in the assembly-testing-packaging (ATP) segment, aiming to form a semiconductor industrial complex with advanced technical infrastructure including a water recycling system, independent renewable energy, and an internationally standardized management system. Secondly, computers, electronic equipment, and supporting industries. The province is promoting the development of a high-tech electronics industrial cluster, focusing on components, camera modules, SMT, and high value-added products. Thirdly, electric cars, electric motorcycles, and precision mechanics. The province hopes to attract Korean businesses to participate in the electric vehicle value chain, from batteries, motors, components, frames, and bodies to complete assembly, aiming to become a leading green vehicle manufacturing center in the North.
In parallel with its industry orientation, Phu Tho is building an image of a reliable, friendly, and professional investment destination, based on three core values: Speed, transparency, and long-term partnership. Investment promotion activities are proactively implemented through KOTRA, KOCHAM, and other Korean organizations to increase awareness and strengthen trust.
In addition, the Department of Finance and other departments and agencies have identified improving the capacity to serve Korean businesses as a key task, creating a foundation for Phu Tho to continue being a "favorable land" for Korean "eagles" to develop sustainably.
