According to Thai media, right after the match, FAT President Madam Pang decided to give a bonus of 500,000 baht (412 million VND) to encourage the team's spirit. Previously, the head of Thai football also gave a bonus of 1 million baht (824 million VND) to the Thai U17 team after winning a ticket to the Asian Cup.

Speaking after the victory over U22 Timor Leste, coach Thawatchai Damrong-Ongtrakul of U22 Thailand said he was satisfied with the result. He shared: “We won 3 important points. This match was not easy. U22 Timor Leste had caused difficulties for U22 Thailand in the previous youth tournament. In the first half, the opponent pressed very hard. Luckily, the whole team kept their focus. In the second half, the personnel adjustment helped us have a more coherent game.”

Coach Thawatchai also admitted that the team will face personnel difficulties when the Thai League returns at the weekend. Some key players such as Khamyok and Ikhlas Sanhorn have to return to their clubs, forcing the coaching staff to consider rotating them in the match against Singapore on December 11.

“We have to strike a balance between preserving our strength and maintaining our strength. We cannot underestimate any opponent. The most important thing is to focus on our own play,” he added.

Recently, a group of enthusiastic Thai football fans (Ultras Thailand) expressed their protest to the organizing committee by not entering the stadium to cheer for U22 Thailand at the SEA Games.

The match between U22 Thailand and U22 Timor Leste yesterday had only 7,741 spectators present at Rajamangala Stadium, creating a sparse atmosphere. Coach Thawatchai said the atmosphere in the stadium was still lively. He believes that a big win will help attract more spectators in the next match.

The head coach of Thailand U22 added: “We do not only play to win, but also to bring joy to the fans. Hopefully, the next match will have more spectators.”

Coach Thawatchai also thanked Madam Pang for giving the team a bonus: “We thank Madam Pang for always accompanying and motivating the players. Her support means a lot to the whole team.”

Thailand U22 will have a rest in the second match. They will face Singapore U22 in the final match on December 11.
