The unknown player eliminated from MU is an old friend at Carrington, Rashford's close friend.

Tyrell Warren, a former MU student, became the hero of Grimsby Town when he contributed greatly to defeating his old team in the second round of the Carabao Cup in the early morning of August 28.

Tyrell Warren grew up at MU's training center and has a close relationship with Rashford.

Warren is a close friend of Marcus Rashford and was coached by Jose Mourinho, but this player has become a nightmare for MU. The 26-year-old striker scored the second goal for Grimsby. Speaking to the Manchester Evening News , Warren recalled: "It was a crazy experience. I didn't think I'd get this opportunity. After the summer break, Nicky Butt announced I was going to train with the first team, which was quite a surprise."

Warren did not get a chance to play for the first team but admitted that he learned a lot from Mourinho and his teammates, especially about the intensity and quality of the training sessions.

Warren had the opportunity to train with the MU first team under Mourinho.

Many of Warren's academy players, including Rashford, McTominay, Axel Tuanzebe, Dean Henderson and Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, have gone on to make the senior squad. Rashford is currently on loan at Barcelona and remains close to Warren, even training together during the 2025 summer break.

Warren said of his close friend: "We have been close since we were kids, playing football together in Manchester. Rashford always comes to watch me play and never forgets our friendship."

Meanwhile, Ruben Amorim's MU continues to hit rock bottom. After the first 3 matches of the new season, the "Red Devils" have not known a win. According to The Times , coach Amorim is at risk of being fired if the situation does not improve.
