The North-South railway line passing through Quang Ngai province is nearly 100km long, traversing 14 communes and 4 wards. From 2020 to the present, Quang Ngai has experienced 23 railway accidents resulting in 15 deaths and 15 injuries.
The main causes of railway accidents are primarily due to drivers failing to observe traffic regulations and disregard railway safety corridor rules when crossing unauthorized level crossings or intersections with railways. In addition, the railway line through the province has recorded 16 incidents of stone-throwing at trains in recent years, causing damage to railway property.
In accordance with the coordination regulations No. 1610/QCPH dated November 22, 2019, between the Quang Ngai Provincial Police, the Department of Construction, and the Sub-committee on Security, Order, and Railway Traffic Safety of Quang Ngai Province, the Provincial Police have coordinated with the security and order forces of Quang Ngai Railway Station, the Railway Safety Management Department II, and other forces to strengthen the dissemination of information to the public regarding compliance with the Railway Law and the handling of railway traffic safety violations. As a result, the railway line passing through the province has no longer had any accident black spots in recent years.
The police, the construction industry, and the railway forces coordinated to conduct 1,018 patrol and inspection operations involving 2,006 officers, handling 43 violations and issuing warnings and educational messages to 74 cases. The forces also closed and removed dozens of illegally opened crossings, cleared encroachments on the railway safety corridor, and continued to review and address 23 remaining illegally opened crossings.

Deputy General Director of Vietnam Railways Corporation Nguyen Quoc Vuong requested that the Nghia Binh Railway Exploitation Branch should identify and promptly provide information to the police forces in the communes and wards for coordinated handling; strengthen the application of science and technology in inspection, control, and handling of violations; and intensify propaganda in localities and communes with railway lines passing through, informing local authorities, residents, and students about unauthorized crossings and unsafe railway practices.
The Provincial Police and the Provincial Department of Construction will continue to provide support and coordinate with the railway industry to address railway-related problems, deal with unauthorized crossings, and cooperate in resolving traffic accidents to ensure train services resume as soon as possible.
On this occasion, the Vietnam Railway Corporation awarded certificates of merit to 10 collectives and 13 individuals for their outstanding achievements in ensuring security, order, and safety on the railway. The Quang Ngai Provincial Police, the Department of Construction, and the Provincial Railway Security and Traffic Safety Subcommittee signed a cooperation agreement for the next phase.
