“Local Quality” - Illustration contest honoring local identity values

NDO - From May 17 to June 16, the “Local Quality” contest calls on young artists to honor and spread the beauty of local cultures throughout Vietnam through creative illustrations. The contest is organized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization; Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports in coordination with a number of units.

Vietnamese national culture is a composite picture of many identities, each locality is a separate color. Wishing to gather and spread the unique cultural beauty of each land, the illustration contest with the theme "Local Quality" welcomes unique ideas from the visual artist community in many types such as painting, illustration, design...

Each painting is a proud testament, carrying a story about the unique "quality" and identity of each locality, creating a vibrant and colorful cultural symphony of the Vietnamese people. It is the beautiful natural scenery, the bustling atmosphere of special festivals, to the places marking heroic history; the stories passed down through generations with deep spiritual values, the costume details imbued with customs and traditions or the unforgettable memories associated with that place...

Entries must be at least 40x40cm in size, with no limit on the number of entries per author. Entries can be digital or paper, scanned or photographed… No text should be added to the artwork, unless it is part of the artwork; no work with any part created using AI tools is accepted.

The contest has a total prize value of more than 80 million VND with the prize structure including: 3 excellent work awards, 23 outstanding work awards, 1 voting award, 5 promising work awards and 3 outstanding combined work awards. In addition to the main awards, the works participating in the illustration challenge will be selected to be displayed within the framework of the activities of the "EMPLEMENT!" project of the United NationsEducational , Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) across the country.

The "EMPLEMENT!" project aims to support the Government of Vietnam in optimizing the cross-cutting contributions of culture. This includes maximizing the opportunities of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network and UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Vietnam; in line with the national strategy for cultural industries and the national strategy for sustainable tourism vision 2030, empowering young creative talents of Vietnam.

The project aims to impact and contribute to the country's sustainable development agenda through innovative ideas and actions.
