After merging administrative units, Chau Thanh commune was established on the basis of merging 4 units: My Chanh, Thanh My, Da Loc communes and Chau Thanh town. Along with perfecting the organizational structure and ensuring smooth operations, the Party Committee of the commune has been actively preparing for the 1st Congress of the Party Committee of the commune, term 2025-2030. This is an important milestone, opening a new development path for the locality.

Many meaningful and practical projects
To welcome the Party Congresses at all levels for the 2025-2030 term, towards the 14th National Party Congress, Chau Thanh commune has launched many exciting emulation movements. In particular, the focus is on implementing practical public works, which are both of profound political significance and clearly improve infrastructure, contributing to improving people's lives.
Specifically, the locality has completed 6 key projects on schedule and with quality. Notable ones include the 7.5km My Chanh-Da Loc traffic route with a total investment of 24 billion VND; the public lighting system on National Highway 54, nearly 1.5km long, with a capital of 6 billion VND from the state budget. In addition, the Thanh Tri A hamlet rural bridge project was built with a mobilized capital of 120 million VND; the Dau Giong A-Dau Giong B bridge worth 165 million VND contributed by the people.
One of the typical projects that left a clear impression on the people was the road and drainage system at Alley 368 (Hamlet 5), with a total investment of 2.8 billion VND. People voluntarily donated more than 1,300m² of land and contributed 75 million VND to help the State complete the project.
Mr. Duong Van Vung, a resident of Hamlet 5, emotionally shared: “The new road has been a long-awaited one. Now it is easy to travel, spacious, everyone is happy”. Mr. Nguyen Hoang Dung voluntarily donated more than 40m² of land, sharing more: “Before, every time it rained, the road was flooded, students had a hard time going to school. Now we are at ease, the road is so beautiful, everyone is happy”.
At the same time, Chau Thanh commune also promotes the development of green and sustainable agricultural production. Notably, the high-quality, low-emission rice production model at Phat Tai and Phu My Chau Agricultural Cooperatives - a pilot model under the Project on sustainable development of 1 million hectares of high-quality, low-emission rice cultivation associated with green growth in the Mekong Delta region by 2030.
According to Mr. Tran Van Chung - Director of Phat Tai Agricultural Cooperative, in the first phase, the model was deployed on an area of 48.4 hectares with the participation of 48 households. Thanks to the application of new techniques, increasing organic fertilizers and reducing chemical fertilizers, households have reduced input costs by 13% (about 3.2 million VND/ha), productivity increased by 4.2%, reaching an average of 7.3 tons/ha. The average profit is over 41 million VND/ha, nearly 6 million VND higher than production outside the model.
In particular, emissions are reduced by 20-30%, contributing to environmental protection and promoting green, sustainable production. From the initial effectiveness, the model has been expanded to more than 60 hectares with more than 50 participating households. This is not only a step forward in farming techniques but also demonstrates the determination of the Party Committee and the people of Chau Thanh commune in renewing production thinking, adapting to climate change and meeting market demands.

Identifying the First Congress of the Commune Party Committee as an important political event, the Chau Thanh Commune Party Committee has focused on preparation work very early. Immediately after the commune officially came into operation, the Standing Committee of the Commune Party Committee developed a detailed plan, established a Steering Committee and sub-committees to serve the congress. At the same time, it coordinated with the pre-merger Party Committees to review, synthesize, adjust and complete the political report to ensure it was close to the actual situation and in line with the local development orientation.
The process of commenting on documents was carried out democratically and publicly. The contents were discussed thoroughly in the Executive Committee, the Standing Committee and affiliated Party organizations. In addition, Party organizations also actively contributed comments to the documents of the 14th National Party Congress and the 12th Vinh Long Provincial Party Congress. The comments were compiled, selected and seriously accepted, demonstrating a sense of responsibility and collective intelligence, contributing to the construction of realistic and effective congress documents.
Personnel work is also carefully prepared, in accordance with regulations, ensuring the structure, age, female ratio and ethnicity according to the instructions of superiors. According to the plan, the congress has 249 delegates attending. The Party Committee of the commune for the new term is expected to be all cadres with political qualities, capacity and prestige, ensuring the leadership requirements after the merger.
In addition, the Commune Party Committee also focuses on building an atmosphere of solidarity and promoting a sense of responsibility throughout the political system. Key tasks are clearly defined, and organizational plans are developed specifically, flexibly, and in accordance with local conditions.
Comrade Thach Thi Sa Thy - Secretary of Chau Thanh Commune Party Committee said: "Immediately after the commune officially started operating, the Party Committee urgently completed documents, clearly defined goals, targets and specific solutions for the next term. Up to this point, the preparation work for the congress and the basic welcoming works have been completed according to the set requirements."
The first Congress of Chau Thanh Commune Party Committee will be an important turning point, shaping the development direction of the whole commune in the coming term. With careful and synchronous preparation, along with a spirit of solidarity and high responsibility, the Party Committee and the people of Chau Thanh Commune are ready for a term of innovation, development and sustainability.
