Late on April 22nd, Chelsea decided to sack head coach Liam Rosenior following a prolonged run of poor results. According to Football London , the Stamford Bridge club had to pay Rosenior £24 million in contract termination fees, as the agreement between the two parties was valid until 2032.
This move makes Rosenior the second-highest paid manager in Chelsea history since 2015, behind only Antonio Conte (£26.2 million in 2018).
Following these two strategists are Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter (both £13 million), Jose Mourinho (£12.5 million), Mauricio Pochettino (£10 million), Enzo Maresca (£4.3 million), and Frank Lampard (£2 million).
In total, the Stamford Bridge club has spent over £100 million just on contract compensation for sacked managers over the past decade, a staggering figure even for the wealthiest clubs.
Constant changes on the coaching bench not only cause financial losses but also affect the team's professional stability. With Chelsea attempting a rebuilding process under new owners, the question is whether they can break this costly cycle of sackings and compensation.
Several players are being considered by Chelsea's management to replace Rosenior, including Filipe Luis, Cesc Fabregas, Andoni Iraola, Xabi Alonso, and former player Frank Lampard.
