Chelsea quickly deleted the announcement of being sponsored by FPT

Early in the morning of April 10, the official page X (formerly Twitter) of Chelsea FC posted a post announcing the sponsor. The content was quickly deleted. However, some fans managed to save the photo and the announcement. According to the data that was spread, FPT Software, a Vietnamese software development company, has become the official global partner of the London team.

“Introducing our global partnership with FPT Software. Shaping the future of football through cutting-edge technology and immersive moments with fans,” Chelsea wrote in a since-deleted post on X. The 2020-2021 Champions League winner also tagged the Vietnamese software company, adding the hashtag FPT Software.

Previously, many accounts specializing in shirt sponsorship news in England shared information that Chelsea was negotiating a sponsorship contract for next season with a software company from Vietnam. Citing journalist Lukasz Bączek, Footy Headlines said that Chelsea was negotiating with FPT Software. However, this information has never been confirmed by either party.

Chelsea remains one of the few teams playing in Europe's top leagues without a sponsor logo on their shirts. Last year, they were branded by Infinite Athletic, a sports technology solutions company. However, this company was discovered to have many secret relationships with the club's owners.

Many sources revealed that Chelsea hoped that achieving good results and qualifying for the Champions League next season would help them negotiate a better contract. The expected amount is a sponsorship of 50 million pounds per year, over many seasons. Before FPT Software, Middle Eastern airlines and American technology companies were also rumored to be cooperating with Chelsea.

Cole Palmer and his team-mates had a sub-par weekend as they were held to a draw by Brentford in the Premier League. They missed the chance to widen the gap on Man City in the top four when Pep's side drew stalemate with Manchester United on Super Sunday. The London club currently have 53 points after 31 games, level with Newcastle United, but have played one game more. However, thanks to the good performance of English teams in C1, the EPL's fifth-placed team still has a ticket to next season's Champions League.
