This morning, October 25, Bac A Commercial Joint Stock Bank ( Bac A Bank ) reduced its deposit interest rates for the third time. Accordingly, the deposit interest rate for a term of 6-8 months decreased by 0.15 percentage points to 5.6%/year. The interest rate for a term of 9-11 months decreased by 0.1 percentage points to 5.7%/year.
The bank interest rate for 12-13 month terms decreased by 0.1 percentage point to 5.8%/year. Meanwhile, the interest rate for 18-36 month term deposits remained at 6.1%/year. The bank also kept the old interest rate for short terms from 1-5 months at 4.55%/year.
Interest rates at the remaining banks remained unchanged. Yesterday, the market also did not record any banks adjusting interest rates down.
Thus, since the beginning of October, there have been 3 days when the market has not recorded any bank reducing deposit interest rates.
According to statistics from the beginning of October, 23 banks have reduced deposit interest rates, including: PVCombank, VIB, Sacombank, VietBank, SCB, VPBank, SHB , BIDV, VietinBank, HDBank, BaoViet Bank, Techcombank, SeABank, Viet A Bank, PG Bank, Dong A Bank, Vietcombank, LPBank, Nam A Bank, CBBank, ACB and Bac A Bank.
Of which, VIB, Vietcombank, SHB, Dong A Bank, PG Bank, Nam A Bank, HDBank , LPBank, Viet A Bank are the banks that reduced interest rates twice this month. VietBank and Bac A Bank reduced interest rates for the third time this month. On the contrary, there was one bank that increased deposit interest rates, GPBank, on October 4.
Last week, the SBV withdrew a net VND35,900 billion on the OMO channel, and continued to sell VND55,900 billion of 28-day treasury bills at an average interest rate of 1.11%, while VND20,000 billion of previously issued bills had matured. This is the fifth consecutive week that the SBV has used the treasury bill issuance tool to absorb liquidity in the market, with the total amount of treasury bills in circulation currently reaching VND241,599 billion.
The SBV's net withdrawal for the fifth consecutive week on OMO has pushed up interbank interest rates. However, in general, interbank interest rates are still low, showing that liquidity in the market is still relatively abundant.
