Answering questions and concerns of parents at the 2025 Admission Selection Day, which took place at the University of Technology this morning, July 19, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Thao, Director of the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Training, said that this year, the benchmark scores will be converted to be equivalent between the groups and admission methods to create fairness for candidates.
Specifically, a major can be recruited using many combinations. In case there is a large difference between the admission combinations (due to large differences in test scores), schools can apply the percentile method to ensure fairness for candidates.
The percentile method is considered the most suitable currently for converting equivalent admission scores when using many types of exam scores for the same major or training group.
The Ministry of Education and Training plans to announce the percentiles of the five traditional groups A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry), A01 (Math, Physics, English), B00 (Math, Chemistry, Biology), C00 (Literature, History, Geography), D01 (Math, Literature, English) early next week (July 21 or 22).

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Thao commented that the admission scores of universities based on the high school graduation exam scores this year will fluctuate compared to previous years, because the exam combinations have changed. However, Mr. Thao advised candidates applying for combinations with Math and English such as A01, D01 not to worry too much or fear unfairness compared to candidates applying for combination C00.
"Schools and majors that consider the above combinations will have adjustments based on the percentile. The C00 block score can be deducted by a certain amount, depending on the number of registrations to ensure the rights of candidates," said Mr. Thao.
Currently, candidates can register, adjust and add university admission wishes an unlimited number of times, until 5:00 p.m. on July 28. After that, they pay the admission fee online from July 29 to 5:00 p.m. on August 5.
Universities are announcing their admission floor scores and predicted admission scores one by one. For the Education and Health sectors, the Ministry of Education and Training plans to announce them early next week. University admission scores will be announced before 5 p.m. on August 22.
