Avatr Technology recently launched a new generation of automobile manufacturing plants, in cooperation with big names such as Changan Automobile, Huawei and China Unicom. The factory is designed according to a flexible production model, with devices connected throughout the production line thanks to 5G networks and real-time data platforms.

During a livestream introducing the factory, Avatr let the public directly follow the production process, from robotic body welding, automated quality control to final assembly. This is one of the most modern electric vehicle factories in China at the moment.

A car completed in 60 seconds

According to Avatr, the production line at this factory has a high level of automation, capable of producing a car every 60 seconds.

The plant can accommodate more than 1,200 different order configurations thanks to flexible production capabilities on the same line, including powertrains and optional equipment packages.

The facility integrates 369 monitoring points, 26 quality inspection points, and 73 AI-enabled assembly stations. At each station, workers use smart wrenches worth up to 200,000 yuan (nearly 730 million VND) that can automatically detect and warn when the tightening force is not up to standard.

Assembly stations feature real-time task displays and digital instructions, and robotic systems handle key tasks such as installing glass, car doors, and panoramic sunroofs.

All components are transported by AGV guided vehicle system, while the modular battery line supports both 400V and 800V configurations.

Plan to expand to 800,000 vehicles per year

Avatr is now pushing ahead with its expansion plans and product portfolio. Along with the new factory, the company confirmed that it will soon launch a large luxury SUV jointly developed with Huawei. This is part of a strategy to launch 17 new models between now and 2030, ranging from sedans, SUVs, sports cars to MPVs.

Avatr’s long-term goal is to reach global sales of 800,000 vehicles/year. In 2024, the company sold 73,000 vehicles – double that of 2023. Notably, in the first 6 months of the year, Avatr reached the milestone of more than 10,000 vehicles/month in the last 4 consecutive months.

Accelerating Globalization: From Southeast Asia to the Middle East

Not only developing domestically, Avatr has also officially entered the international market since 2024.

The company has a presence in 25 countries, including many key markets in Southeast Asia and the Middle East such as Thailand, Dubai, Jordan, Egypt and Singapore.

In Thailand and Dubai, the company's models are priced from 500,000 to 700,000 yuan (equivalent to 1.83–2.6 billion VND). Recently, Avatr also introduced the Avatr 11 model in Singapore and signed distribution agreements in Jordan and Egypt.

Automation Race: Changan and Xiaomi Join the Race

Previously, in October 2024, Changan Automobile - one of Avatr's main partners - also opened an automated factory in Chongqing with more than 1,400 robots, 800 smart devices and 650 AGV vehicles.

This factory has a maximum capacity of 280,000 vehicles/year, equivalent to a speed of 60 seconds for a finished vehicle.

The entire system is connected by 5G technology and industrial IoT, linking more than 12,000 devices. The factory also uses solar power with a capacity of 36MW, providing about 19% of electricity demand, contributing to increasing sustainability for production.

Not long ago, Xiaomi also attracted attention when it launched its own car factory that can produce an average of one car every 76 seconds - equivalent to 40 cars per hour.

Avatr's new factory not only represents a collaboration between Chinese tech giants and automakers, but also symbolizes the shift to smart manufacturing.

Speed, precision and high customizability are becoming core elements in the competition in the global electric vehicle market.

As electrification takes off globally, advances like Avatr's could serve as a reminder that China is not only the world's largest consumer of electric vehicles, but is also reshaping how cars are made in the digital age.
