An Giang Provincial Forest Protection Department verifies information about a white monkey appearing on Hon Son.

On October 13, the An Giang Provincial Forest Protection Department said it had sent a document to the Head of the Forest Protection Department of Region III to verify and clarify information about a white monkey appearing in Hon Son, Kien Hai special zone.

Previously, on October 10, social networks posted a clip about 4 white monkeys appearing on Ma Thien Lanh mountain in Hon Son.

To verify the source of information, serve the management, protection and conservation of endangered and rare wildlife species in An Giang province, the Forest Protection Department requests the Head of Forest Protection Department Region III to urgently organize verification and clarification of information.

Based on the assigned functions and tasks, the Head of the Forest Protection Department of Region III presides over and coordinates with the local authorities of Kien Hai special zone and relevant units to organize inspection, verification, and clarification of information about 4 individuals suspected to be white monkeys appearing on Ma Thien Lanh mountain, reporting specific results, with working minutes and specific images attached.

In case the verification does not detect any white monkeys, the Forest Protection Department is requested to inform the local authorities and people in the area in writing.

In case of inspection and verification of white monkeys, the Forest Protection Department shall coordinate with local authorities to immediately deploy measures to protect the safety of animals according to the law; prevent and strictly handle acts of hunting and chasing.

  At the same time, the Forestry Department's staff coordinated with specialized units to accurately identify species names, biological characteristics, habits and propose appropriate conservation measures.

Strengthen propaganda and dissemination of legal regulations on wildlife protection; advise people when discovering wild animals to proactively protect them, not hunt or chase them away, and promptly report to authorities for appropriate handling measures, ensuring the health and safety of people and limiting damage to wild animals.
