Directing response and overcoming consequences of storm No. 3

On September 10, Comrade Bui Minh Chau - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation and Comrade Bui Van Quang - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired an online conference to deploy response and recovery work for storm No. 3 in the province. Attending the conference at Doan Hung bridge was Comrade Phung Khanh Tai - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee.

Overview of the online conference

Attending the conference were members of the Provincial Party Committee, Standing Committee of the People's Council, leaders of the Provincial People's Committee, Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; leaders of departments and branches; leaders of 13 districts, cities and towns and the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue at all levels.

Provincial Party Secretary Bui Minh Chau delivered a concluding speech at the conference.

Due to the impact of storm No. 3 and floods, by September 10, the whole province had 1 person dead due to landslide in Ha Hoa district; 2 people injured in Tam Nong and Thanh Thuy districts; 20 schools, 6 cultural houses, 1 medical facility had their roofs blown off; 233 houses were damaged by fallen trees and roofs; 4 houses were affected by landslides; 2,468 households had to be evacuated due to flooding; many hectares of rice, crops, and plants were broken and fallen; some headquarters and factories were damaged; about ^26,500m3 of land on traffic routes were eroded. Notably, Phong Chau bridge on National Highway 32C collapsed at 10:00 on September 9, preliminarily determining that 8 people are still missing. The total estimated damage is over 100 billion VND.

As soon as the disaster occurred, leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, Provincial People's Committee, members of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue directly went to the scene to inspect, direct response and overcome the consequences caused by floods and landslides, and overcome the consequences of the collapse of Phong Chau Bridge. The whole province mobilized forces to localities to prevent the overflow of dikes, help people evacuate their property and overcome the damage.

Speaking at the conference, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Van Quang praised and highly appreciated the attention and active participation of all levels, sectors and localities in responding to the consequences of storm No. 3 in the province. He said that the task that needs to be done immediately is to overcome the flooding situation on the Red River in Cam Khe and Ha Hoa districts.

Resolutely evacuate and relocate people from dangerous areas, have plans to support accommodation and stabilize people's lives. He hoped that localities in the province would continue to mobilize the participation and strong cooperation of the entire political system to each residential area and each person. In addition, promptly encourage and visit the families of victims missing due to the collapse of Phong Chau bridge and those severely affected by floods.

Concluding the conference, Provincial Party Secretary Bui Minh Chau once again highly appreciated the proactive, urgent, and responsible spirit of all levels, sectors, police and military forces in handling the situation and overcoming the consequences of storms and floods.

Phu Tho is one of the provinces heavily affected by storm No. 3 and the situation is predicted to continue to be complicated. The Provincial Party Secretary requested to seriously learn from some issues: Information and propaganda must be timely and accurate, not allowing the spread of fake news and untrue information that causes panic among the people. Press agencies need to step up propaganda to mobilize the participation of the entire political system to each facility and people. Localities and units assign official information focal points to the Department of Information and Communications. The Department of Information and Communications strengthens the management of information and propaganda work, and proposes measures to handle subjects that provide false and unverified information.

Representative of Department of Agriculture and Rural Development speaks about forecast of river water level

Regarding the critical situation of Thac Ba Lake, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue are assigned to grasp the situation and the Government's handling plan to promptly notify. Localities: Viet Tri City, Doan Hung, Phu Ninh inform the people of the situation so that they can proactively evacuate their assets and people to a safe place. The number 1 priority is to ensure the safety of the people. The work of evacuating and ensuring the lives of people in areas affected by storms and floods must be carried out in parallel.

Localities have plans to visit victims of the Phong Chau bridge collapse and those affected by storms and floods; grasp the situation, handle situations, and immediately report to the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee when problems arise.
