
The Dow Jones index rose 182 points, or 0.4%, to 50,644 points, while the S&P 500 index gained 1 point, or 0.02%, to 7,520 points and the Nasdaq Composite index rose 18 points, or 0.1%, to 26,674 points.
The Dow Jones index surged as investors shifted towards healthcare and consumer goods stocks. Procter & Gamble shares rose 3.2%, while UnitedHealth's increased 1.9%.
Regarding the Middle East peace talks, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said some progress had been made. However, both President Donald Trump and Iran stated that there were still issues to be resolved.
The market will continue to focus on the personal consumption expenditures data to be released on May 28th. This inflation figure, which the Fed prioritizes, could provide new signals about the future monetary policy path under the leadership of new Chairman Kevin Warsh.
In Vietnam, at the close of trading on May 27, the VN Index fell 9.75 points (-0.52%), to 1,874.43 points. The HNX-Index closed at 282.23 points, up 4.08 points (1.47%).
