Moscow regains initiative in Bakhmut, controls Khromovo

Rybar channel reported that on the flank of Bakhmut, Moscow forces gained the initiative over the enemy, Kiev exhausted its resources in unsuccessful efforts to besiege the city.

Northwest of Bakhmut, the Russian 98th Guards Airborne Division successfully repelled an attack on the Berkhovsky reservoir and then launched a counterattack towards Bogdanovka and Khromovo (Bakhmut). As a result, they expanded their control around the reservoir (taking back from the Ukrainians what they had captured for several months at the cost of hundreds of lives), successfully taking control of Khromovo.

Even during the previous attack on Bakhmut by Wagner forces, the village played an important role in supplying the Ukrainian garrison. Now, control of the settlement would put pressure on the southern outskirts of Bakhmut.

Khromovo is adjacent to Krasnoye (Ivanovskoye), the village where Kiev forces used to set up artillery positions to fire at the enemy in Kleshchiivka. Now the Russian Army can consolidate their positions in the weekend resorts of Bakhmut and in the direction of Krasnoye.

Changes in the front line affected the situation in Kleshchiivka, where the intensity of fire decreased significantly due to the withdrawal of some artillery and mortars from the front line by Ukraine.

Russia is now systematically pushing Ukraine back from the approaches to Kleshchiivka. The village itself is of little importance due to its lowland location. The heights to the north and towards Krasny are important, which is where the fighting is taking place.

Russia captures Sinkovka, Kiev evacuates people from dangerous area

Rybar channel reported that in Kupyansk, the Western group of Russian forces, after several weeks of systematic attacks deep into the enemy's defense line, pushed back Kiev's formations from several positions south and southwest of the village of Liman 1 and took control of the village of Sinkovka.

This settlement can actually be considered a stronghold of the Kiev army in the region, despite its small size. The Ukrainian command deployed large reserves to defend the village.

In the east, at the Ivanovka-Kislovka line, the battles for positions continued without any visible changes. However, in the vicinity of the abandoned villages of Zagoruykovka or Timkovka, the Russian troops were able to squeeze into the enemy defenses.

Despite the lack of any fortified positions, the old settlement is located on a hill where the Kiev command built its defenses along the Timkovka - Ivanovka - Kislovka line. Because of this, Ukraine began to urgently mobilize reinforcements to reinforce the second line of defense in Podol and Petropavlovka. In addition, 3 units of unidentified designations were transferred from the border with the Belgorod region to Kupyansk.

Kiev mobilizes reserve troops, determined to protect Avdiivka

At the Avdiivka hotspot, Moscow forces have completed the clearance of the southern industrial zone. In addition, they are developing an offensive in the area of the coal and chemical plant.

Fierce fighting for positions between Severnoe and Tonenkoe is taking place. There are reports of a possible transfer of new Ukrainian reserves from Zaporizhia to Avdiivka.

Russia is gradually regaining positions in Rabotino and Verbovoe

The fighting in the Orekhov region has suddenly heated up again. For a long time, Ukraine has not carried out large-scale offensives similar to those in the summer and early autumn with the massive use of armored vehicles.

Moscow forces are gradually regaining positions at Rabotino and Verbovoe that were lost earlier.

Bad weather is now being observed in multiple areas at the same time, which has had a major impact on the fighting. This limits the use of aircraft and UAVs, while eroded soil and mud make it difficult to move equipment.

In such conditions, the intensity of the fighting was forced to decrease. At the same time, the Kiev command was withdrawing the forces previously operating in Orekhov to Avdiivka: in particular, the 116th mechanized brigade left there.

Currently, the Zaporizhia front is increasingly becoming secondary for Ukraine.

Kiev says it destroyed 3 Russian command posts and 2 trains

Ukrainska Pravda reported that the evening report of the General Staff of Ukraine on November 29 said that in the past 24 hours, 73 clashes occurred.

According to the General Staff, Russia attacked Ukraine with Kh-31 guided missiles and 2 S-300 missiles.

The report said: "During the day, Ukrainian aircraft carried out two attacks on areas where personnel, weapons and equipment were concentrated and two more attacks on enemy air defense missile systems. Missile force units hit three command posts, two ammunition trains and areas where Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment were concentrated."

In the direction of Kupyansk, Russia unsuccessfully attacked the areas of Sinkovka, northeast of Petropavlovka, Kharkov region and Stelmakhovka, Lugansk region. In this direction, Ukraine repelled 6 attacks.

In the Liman direction, Ukraine repelled 15 Russian attacks.

In the direction of Bakhmut, Russia attacked Ivanovsky and Andriivka, Donetsk region, but failed.

In the direction of Avdiivka, the enemy, with the support of the air force, attacked Stepnoye, Novokalinovoye, east of Novobakhmutovka, Avdiivka, south of Tonenkoye, Severny, Pervomaisky Donetsk region, all without result. Ukraine repelled 20 attacks.

Russia steps up offensive in Donetsk

The Guardian reported that according to Oleksandr Shtupun, a spokesman for the Ukrainian military, Moscow forces stepped up attacks in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine on November 29.

The move comes as both sides try to gain more territory before winter weather threatens to complicate negotiations.

Improved conditions after storms earlier this week have allowed Moscow forces to step up attacks and redeploy UAVs, Shtupun said.

"The enemy has doubled its artillery fire and air strikes. They also continuously staged infantry attacks and used armored vehicles," he said.

Ukraine launches HIMARS missile, destroys Russian Buk missile complex

Ukraine released a video showing its forces using the HIMARS multiple launch rocket system to destroy enemy air defense missile systems, Ukrainska Pravda reported.

The incident occurred in the direction of Kherson. Units of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) pursued the enemy's air defense system and transmitted the target coordinates to the fire unit to carry out a successful HIMARS strike.

Russian general may have been killed in Ukraine

On November 29, the pro-Kremlin Lenta news agency, along with other Russian media, reported that Major General Vladimir Zavadsky was killed in Ukraine, Kyiv Independent reported.

Major General Zavadsky, deputy commander of the 14th Army of the Russian Armed Forces, was reportedly killed by a mine explosion.

The Russian military has not commented on this information.

Missile warning across Ukraine

The Kyiv Independent reported that the Ukrainian air force on November 30 issued an air threat warning for Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv and Kiev provinces as Moscow doubled its air attacks aimed at crippling the country's energy infrastructure.

Earlier this week, Moscow launched a large-scale drone attack on Kiev that Ukraine fears is just the beginning of a winter campaign that has evolved into a war of attrition.

As winter approaches, President Volodymyr Zelensky admitted during a visit to Washington that “it will be very difficult” ahead as his country struggles to contain Moscow’s forces while support from the US is at a standstill.

President Zelensky visits southern Ukraine

President Volodymyr Zelensky visited civilians and military personnel in the southern Ukrainian provinces of Odessa, Kherson and Mykolaiv, his official website said on November 29.

In Odesas, the president held a meeting with regional leaders and representatives of the city of Odessa on the impact of the recent storm that swept through the Black Sea region on November 27.

“In all regions, it is important to have a sufficient number of ‘invincible points’ for any emergency situation, whether weather-related or security-related,” Mr Zelensky said, referring to mobile shelters that provide heating, electricity and internet.

President Zelensky also presented state awards to servicemen in the Kherson and Odessa regions.

Ukraine evacuates people from 'danger zone' in Kharkov

The remaining two families with children living in and around the city of Kupyansk in Kharkiv province have been identified and evacuated, Oleh Syniehubov, governor of Kharkiv region, announced on November 29, Kyiv Independent reported.

"All our findings indicate that the evacuation of children from this area (Kupyansk) is complete," Syniehubov said.

The last two families with children were hunted down by law enforcement officials nearly a week before they were evacuated, and the governor confirmed that another family with two children had left Kharkiv just days earlier.

In total, 493 people, including 299 children, living in three communities in Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region were evacuated from their homes. Families received the necessary humanitarian, medical and psychological assistance, and those in need were provided with free accommodation.

Located just 3 km from the border, the Kharkov region in northeastern Ukraine has been the target of Russian attacks almost daily since February 24, 2022.

Mr. Stoltenberg: Ukraine's implementation of reforms in the war is impressive

Kyiv Independent reported that NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said at a press conference in Brussels on November 29 that he was impressed by the pace of Ukraine's reforms, as well as the commitment of the Ukrainian government and people to implement them amid the ongoing full-scale conflict.

Mr Stoltenberg expressed optimism about Ukraine's progress on the battlefield and, while acknowledging that significant territorial gains were unlikely by 2023, he declined to refer to the term "stalemate" used by reporters.

Instead, he emphasized Ukraine's growing ability to launch strikes against Moscow's targets deep in the rear, as well as pushing the Black Sea Fleet "all the way to Novorossiysk."

Ukraine's repeated attacks on the Black Sea Fleet have caused a "functional failure" of the Russian navy operating in the region, British Defense Secretary James Heappey said on October 3.

Stoltenberg also repeated Moscow's loss estimate cited by the Ukrainian General Staff, saying Russia had suffered more than 300,000 casualties.

Ukraine sees no signs of NATO fatigue

AP reported that from Brussels, where NATO foreign ministers were meeting to discuss the security situation in Ukraine and elsewhere in the world, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said some allies had made new offers of assistance, but declined to provide details.

“They understand that in order for them to feel safe, in order for them to not be in a situation where NATO soldiers would have to fight, Ukraine has to win this conflict,” he said.

Russia begins to use 500kg cluster bombs more frequently

The Guardian reported that in its latest daily update, the Ministry of Defense said that Russia is believed to be stepping up the use of RBK-500 cluster bombs in many areas east of Donetsk.

The report said the RBK-500 fires 100-350 submunitions, and each detonated submunition can hit a tank or hundreds of high-velocity fragments to damage enemy personnel.

Earlier this year, the US began supplying cluster munitions to Ukraine to aid its efforts to break through Russia's front lines.
