The Ukrainian battlefield is on fire, Russian troops are pouring into all fronts

Lightning raids by mechanized infantry have helped the Russian army control the largest area of territory since November 2024.

While the world is still arguing about the "seesaw" war between Russia and Ukraine, the Russian military (RFAF) is determined to break the balance of the battlefield, with a "textbook level" blitzkrieg.

Within just 24 hours, the Russian armored group “like a bolt from the blue”, with overwhelming force, occupied many strategic Ukrainian positions in Donetsk and Sumy, penetrated the border defense line of the Ukrainian army (AFU) in Sumy, and occupied 10 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory in one day.

The speed of this attack and the sharpness of the RFAF's tactics almost amazed military observers around the world - when the RFAF did not choose the usual "step by step", but directly used the "armored flood" as the core, combined with precision-guided weapons and air support, tearing apart the weakest link of the AFU's defense line; rewriting the battlefield map overnight.

What is even more shocking is that the RFAF offensive was not a "single-point breakthrough", but a multi-point breakthrough. From Kharkov to Donbass, from Sumy to Zaporozhye, the Russian armored group used "wolf pack tactics" to advance in groups, and the Ukrainian defense line was penetrated.

According to news from the front, more than 260 Ukrainian soldiers were killed in the Donetsk direction alone, and the number of foreign mercenaries killed is even harder to count. During this raid, the RFAF did not even give the AFU time to organize an effective counterattack - while the AFU commander was still arguing about "losing a few villages", the RFAF pushed the front line to the second line of defense, completely disrupting the AFU's strategic deployment.

18-4130.jpg

The RFAF's assault tactics were not a simple "reckless charge". Tactically, the RFAF chose the classic "fight steadily, advance quickly" strategy: using the high mobility of the armored group to sweep through the AFU's fortified defensive area and directly penetrate their logistics center and command post.

This tactic of the RFAF directly cut off the connection between the frontline and the rear of the AFU, causing the Ukrainian army to fall into a dilemma of "staying there would be surrounded, retreating would be prosecuted".

11.jpg

At the strategic level, the RFAF demonstrated the ruthlessness of "trading space for time" - by quickly occupying key towns, forcing the AFU to disperse its forces, thus creating a "few kills equal many" advantage in a localized area.

9-4189.jpg

But what is more noteworthy is the " political significance" of Russia's attack. Since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Western countries have never stopped providing military aid to Ukraine. From Javelin anti-tank missiles to HIMARS missile launchers to F-16 fighter jets, the AFU's equipment level has been continuously upgraded.

However, this time the RFAF chose to attack by surprise, when Western aid had not yet been fully provided. It was clear that Russia was seizing the "strategic window period", taking advantage of the AFU's difficulties in weapons, troops, and the West's hesitation, to increase the speed of attacks across the entire battlefield.

11-8614.jpg

This move not only disrupts Ukraine's war preparations, but also puts Western countries in a "to aid or not to aid" dilemma - if they continue to provide heavy weapons, it could anger Russia; if they stop providing aid, it is tantamount to watching the AFU collapse.

8-6074.jpg

For the AFU, this RFAF raid was a “fatal blow”. According to Ukrainian soldiers on the front line, the Russian armored group advanced so quickly that the Ukrainians did not have time to activate their anti-tank missile systems. On the Sumy front, an AFU mechanized infantry brigade was surrounded by the Russians in just a few hours and was eventually forced to abandon its heavy weapons and retreat.

12-475.jpg

What is more serious is that the morale of the Ukrainian soldiers is wavering, as hundreds of soldiers are dying every day, foreign mercenaries are fleeing, and defense lines are falling one after another. This news spreads like an epidemic in the AFU, greatly weakening their fighting spirit.

15.jpg

Strategically, the AFU's problem is even more serious. Since the conflict broke out, the AFU has relied on military aid and intelligence support from Western countries, but this raid by the RFAF has exposed its serious flaw of being "over-dependent on foreign aid".

3-3584.jpg

When the RFAF cuts off the AFU’s logistical lines, using “lightning war”, the AFU will have difficulty maintaining its basic weapons supply. At the tactical level, there are also serious problems with the AFU’s defensive construction – they rely too much on solid defensive fortifications, but neglect the formation of mobile forces, which leads to their inability to resist the impact of Russian armored groups.

16-284.jpg

However, Russia’s victory has not come without a price. Although in May the RFAF captured the largest area of Ukrainian territory since November last year; the expansion of logistical supply lines, pressure from international sanctions and losses due to continuous fighting… will become their “Achilles heel” in the future.

In particular, the Ukrainian army in the Donbass region is still relying on solid defenses to put up a stubborn resistance, while the AFU General Staff is also planning a counterattack. If the RFAF cannot consolidate its victory in a short time, its offensive is likely to fall into a "stalemate". (Photo source: Sohu, Military Review, Kyiv Post).
