Stray dogs attack people in Ho Chi Minh City.

A 4-year-old girl suffered serious facial injuries after being attacked by a stray dog ​​while playing in a town square; this serves as a cautionary tale for pet owners to comply with regulations and ensure community safety.

The problem of dogs roaming freely without muzzles continues to have serious consequences.

On the evening of December 7th, a 4-year-old girl was severely injured in the face after being attacked by a stray dog ​​while playing in the square of Phuoc Hai commune, Ho Chi Minh City.

The accident occurred while the little girl was playing when a strange dog, weighing about 15kg, suddenly lunged at her and attacked fiercely. The incident happened so quickly that those around couldn't react in time, and the girl suffered deep scratches and bites to her eyes, nose, and chin.

Following the accident, the family immediately transferred the child from Ba Ria Hospital to Children's Hospital 1 that same night for specialized treatment and rabies vaccination. The child's health is currently stable. Notably, after causing the incident, the dog fled and its owner has yet to be identified.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Phuc, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Long Hai Commune, Ho Chi Minh City, stated that this was a deeply regrettable incident for the family, the locality, and the community. Following this incident, the local authorities have directed relevant departments, especially those overseeing children's playgrounds, to further strengthen management. Regarding the victim's family, the authorities have maintained contact with them since the incident. During the treatment process, the commune leadership has instructed medical personnel to cooperate with the family to ensure the best possible treatment for the child. Furthermore, the police and relevant departments, particularly the hamlets, have been instructed to review CCTV footage and track down the dog's owner for appropriate legal action.

Authorities are urgently searching for the harmful animal. This also serves as a cautionary lesson for pet owners, emphasizing the need to comply with the law and ensure community safety.
