Chairman of Bac Lieu: Many expectations for the first Salt Festival

In 2024, Bac Lieu had very impressive developments and prepared to enter 2025 with many efforts to accelerate and successfully carry out the tasks and targets set for the 2020 - 2025 term.

* In early 2025, Bac Lieu will organize the first Salt Festival, can you share about this event?

- Bac Lieu is honored to be the first province selected by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to organize the Vietnam - Bac Lieu Salt Festival in 2025. We have high expectations for this event.

Firstly, honor, preserve and develop the traditional salt profession; help to arouse the love of traditional professions among the young generation, thereby attracting a young, qualified workforce to participate in production, processing, business and start-up activities from the salt profession.

Second, introduce the salt industry of the whole country and Bac Lieu province to many countries to call for international investment, and attract many domestic enterprises interested in the field of salt production, processing and consumption.

Third, it will be a place for salt farmers, scientists, and domestic and foreign salt businesses to meet, exchange, connect, and access advanced techniques and technologies in salt production.

Fourth, the most important thing is to increase the value of salt grains, helping salt farmers have a more prosperous life and get rich from salt production.

* 2025 is the last year of the term. What are the notable highlights in the province's direction and administration to achieve the goals set at the beginning of the term, sir?

- To strive to achieve the highest set goals, in 2025 the province will focus on directing the drastic implementation of a number of key tasks and solutions as follows:

First: Focus on mobilizing capital sources for development investment; effectively use public investment capital, invest with focus and emphasis in key sectors and fields, create breakthroughs, projects that create spillover momentum, promote socio-economic development. Prioritize the implementation of infrastructure projects that create great spillover, especially the province's strategic transport infrastructure.

Second: Strengthening the promotion of calling for investment in large-scale projects, selecting large, reputable investors with financial potential. In the immediate future, the province is focusing on accelerating the implementation of preparatory steps to select investors for 10 wind power projects with a capacity of 550 MW approved in the Power Plan VIII; actively accompanying and supporting investors in completing procedures according to regulations to deploy the construction of the 3,200 MW Bac Lieu LNG Gas Power Plant project.

Third: Strengthen the application of science and technology, promote innovation, digital transformation, develop the digital economy and digital society. Promote administrative reform in the direction of shortening time, streamlining, transparency and publicity; promptly handle difficulties and problems; support economic organizations, enterprises and investors to invest in the province.

Fourth: Implement social policies well, harmoniously resolve social relations, ensure stability and sustainable social development.

Bac Lieu ranked 2nd in the Mekong Delta in the PAPI index.

Bac Lieu province's economic growth is expected to reach 6.62% per year, with GRDP per capita in 2024 reaching 70.66 million VND/person/year. The poverty rate will be reduced to less than 1%, and people's lives will be significantly improved.

Administrative reform associated with digital transformation has been implemented vigorously, notably the province's Provincial Governance and Public Administration Performance Index (PAPI) ranked 5th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide and 2nd out of 13 in the Mekong Delta region.
