In recent years, with the attention, sharing and encouragement from many levels of leaders, philanthropists nationwide and the People's Public Security force, the implementation of the policy of socializing housing for poor households and those facing urgent housing difficulties in Soc Trang province has brought about many practical results, contributing to solving social security issues and reducing poverty in the locality.

However, with the characteristics of a border province, with a large number of ethnic minorities, especially the Khmer ethnic group (accounting for 1/3 of the province's population), the majority of people work in agriculture, are often affected by natural disasters, drought and salinity, so people's lives still face many difficulties, the number of poor and near-poor households in the province is still high. Through statistical review, Soc Trang province currently has 15,139 poor households and 26,242 near-poor households (accounting for 12.4% of the total number of households in the province, mainly in border areas, areas with a large Khmer ethnic group); in particular, there are 6,972 households with especially difficult housing circumstances that need attention and support to stabilize their lives, while the province's local resources are still very limited.

Implementing the poverty reduction policy "The whole country joins hands for the poor - No one is left behind", the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security have mobilized and supported the construction of 1,200 houses for the poor and those with housing difficulties in Soc Trang province with a total cost of over 60 billion VND. Thereby, helping local people feel secure in working, producing, improving their lives, strengthening the close relationship with the police force in ensuring security and order, building a solid people's security posture. The implementation mobilizes all resources to ensure the right subjects, quality and progress, with a detailed plan and roadmap, saving, avoiding waste and negativity.
The house model was approved by the Ministry of Public Security based on the basic design agreed with the Ministry of Construction and the Department of Construction of Soc Trang province. The funding was mobilized by the Ministry of Public Security from businesses. In addition, the province mobilized resources in terms of labor days from families, relatives, communities, armed forces, union members, youth volunteers, and volunteers to support the transportation of raw materials for house construction in areas with difficult travel conditions.

Also in My Xuyen district, the President visited and presented gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mother Le Thi Thanh, born in 1931, with a 55-year Party membership badge, and former member of the Standing Committee of My Xuyen District Party Committee. Mother Le Thi Thanh has a husband and two children who are martyrs.
