Attending the meeting were Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh - Vice Chairman of the Council; National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man - Member of the Council.

At the meeting, the Council discussed and gave opinions on the world situation as well as the outstanding regional and domestic situations that have an impact on Vietnam's defense, security and foreign affairs; assessed the results of implementing a number of defense and security tasks in the past time; and proposed the content of the seventh meeting of the National Defense and Security Council in the coming time.
On behalf of the Council, President Luong Cuong acknowledged and highly appreciated the preparation work for the Session as well as the important and strategic comments of the Council members on issues related to the country's defense, security and foreign affairs; on that basis, he had a unified viewpoint to propose to the Politburo and competent agencies on guidelines, orientations, mechanisms and policies to strengthen the country's defense, security and foreign affairs.
In the context of the world and regional situation forecast to continue to develop in a complicated and unpredictable manner, the President requested that in the coming time, relevant forces and agencies continue to promote the achieved results, thoroughly grasp, closely follow and effectively implement the policies, guidelines and decisions of the Politburo, the Secretariat, the National Assembly, the Government as well as the directions of General Secretary To Lam on national defense, security and foreign affairs.
In particular, focusing on effectively implementing the Resolution of the 13th Central Committee on the Strategy for National Defense in the new situation, meeting the requirements of firmly protecting the independence, sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of the Fatherland, ensuring national security, maintaining social order and safety, promoting comprehensive, deep and effective international integration; continuing to carry out the task of arranging and streamlining the organization of the armed forces, meeting the requirements and tasks in the new situation; promoting the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation, bringing the country into a new era - the era of strong and prosperous development of the nation.
The President emphasized that in the coming time, it is necessary to continue to closely monitor, proactively grasp, research, analyze, evaluate, and closely forecast the world, regional, and domestic situation, especially emerging issues of strategic nature affecting Vietnam's defense, security, and foreign affairs, in order to promptly advise the Party and State on policies and handling measures, and not to be passive or surprised in any situation.
