President Luong Cuong receives Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Korea

On the morning of July 30, at the Presidential Palace, President Luong Cuong received Mr. Park Chang Dal, Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Korea, visiting and working in Vietnam.

At the meeting, President Luong Cuong highly appreciated President of the Republic of Korea Lee Jae Myung for conducting a phone call and sending a Special Envoy to Vietnam after taking office, thereby demonstrating his respect for Vietnam and the Vietnam-RoK Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

President Luong Cuong sent his best wishes to new President Lee Jae Myung and believed that under his leadership, South Korea will continue to prosper and its people will be happy.

President Luong Cuong affirmed that Vietnam consistently values its relations with South Korea and supports the development policies of the Lee Jae Myung administration, thereby contributing to enhancing South Korea's international role and position.

President Luong Cuong emphasized that after more than 30 years of establishing diplomatic relations, especially after upgrading the relationship to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2022, cooperation between the two countries has developed strongly and effectively in most fields; becoming each other's leading important partners.

Based on the huge development potential, President Luong Cuong suggested that the two sides continue to cooperate closely to promote the exchange of delegations at all levels. Promote cooperation in science and technology, innovation, and training of high-quality human resources, especially in the context of Vietnam promoting digital transformation, developing a green economy , and a circular economy . Promote the implementation of cooperation areas in which Korea has strengths and Vietnam has needs on the basis of mutual benefit, thereby soon completing the goal of increasing bilateral trade turnover to 150 billion USD by 2030 in a balanced and sustainable direction; expand cultural, sports cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

The President asked the Republic of Korea to continue to care for and support nearly 350,000 Vietnamese citizens living, studying and working in Korea, including nearly 100,000 Vietnamese-Korean multicultural families, which serve as a bridge of friendship and contribute to further deepening the cooperative relationship between the two countries.

Special Envoy Park Chang Dal thanked the President for his warm and respectful welcome. Special Envoy Park Chang Dal said that President Lee Jae Myung highly values the relationship and considers Vietnam a key partner in the region; he hopes that on the basis of practical and effective development goals, the new Korean government will continue to cooperate closely with Vietnam for mutual development.

Special envoy Park Chang Dal suggested that Vietnam continue to pay attention, create favorable conditions and remove difficulties for Korean enterprises in the process of investing in Vietnam.

At the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue close cooperation in regional and international forums of mutual interest. President Luong Cuong affirmed the importance of ensuring peace, security, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea, maintaining a peaceful, stable environment, legal order and resolving disputes at sea by peaceful means, on the basis of international law, especially the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).

Special Envoy Park Chang Dal affirmed that he will closely cooperate with Vietnam to successfully organize the APEC Summit 2025 in Korea and APEC 2027 in Vietnam.
