In a solemn and respectful atmosphere, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking delegation of the National Assembly of Vietnam offered flowers to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh - Vietnam's national liberation hero and a great cultural figure. He "dedicated his life to the cause of national liberation of the Vietnamese people, contributing to the common struggle of peoples for peace , national independence, democracy and social progress".

The statue of President Ho Chi Minh was inaugurated and placed at the Square named after him in the Akademicheski district of Moscow on May 18, 1990, one day before the 100th anniversary of his birth.

This is one of more than 36 statues of President Ho Chi Minh located in 22 countries around the world , such as Cuba, France, India, Japan, Madagascar, England..., located in a large space, designed by sculptor Vladimir Efimovich Tsigal and architect Roman Grigoryevich Kananin.

The statue of President Ho Chi Minh is made of bronze, 5m high, and placed on a 6m long, 0.5m thick bronze pedestal. The main part of the complex is the face of Uncle Ho, made of bronze and granite, placed in a giant circle symbolizing the image of the sun.

Below the circle is a statue of a young Vietnamese man full of vitality standing up, looking towards the future, symbolizing a Vietnam that is rising strongly, building a prosperous and peaceful future.

Behind the circle are two bamboo trees that are bent but hard to break, symbolizing the will and strength of the Vietnamese people. The base of the monument solemnly inscribes a quote from President Ho Chi Minh's Appeal to Fight America to Save the Country in Russian: "Nothing is more precious than independence and freedom."

Also this afternoon, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man laid flowers at the Monument to the Unknown Soldier of the Russian Federation in Moscow.

On May 8, 1967, the Eternal Flame was lit on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to commemorate the Red Army soldiers who died for their country during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. The person holding the torch to light the Eternal Flame in the Aleksandrovsky Garden was the late General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union Leonid Brezhnev. The Eternal Flame has become the traditional center not only of Moscow but also of the entire country of birch trees.
