An albino buffalo has unexpectedly become a sensation in Bangladesh and has been mentioned in international media in recent days.

According to Reuters, a rare albino buffalo weighing nearly 700 kg has become a sensation in international media because of its resemblance to US President Donald Trump, leading to it being nicknamed after him.

Originally intended to be sacrificed on May 28th by the organizers of the Eid al-Adha festival in Narayanganj (Bangladesh), this buffalo was rescued at the last minute thanks to the intervention of local authorities.

A Bangladeshi Home Ministry official said: “At the last minute, the decision was made not to proceed with the buffalo sacrifice due to security concerns at the festival given the unusually high level of public interest.”

The Bangladesh Ministry of Home Affairs subsequently ordered the buffalo to be kept, the festival organizers to be reimbursed, and it to be transferred to the national zoo in Dhaka for care.

A seemingly ordinary livestock sale for the Eid al-Adha festival in Narayanganj unexpectedly became a viral sensation in Bangladesh. After online videos went viral, curious crowds from all over flocked to the farm to see the rare albino buffalo firsthand.

The farm owner, Ziauddin Mridha, said his younger brother nicknamed the pet after US President Donald Trump after noticing its resemblance to him. Mridha added that the animal is very gentle and receives special care.

Albino buffaloes are extremely rare, making them instantly stand out in the holiday livestock market. However, it was the unique nickname given to them by the farm that ultimately made the animal famous worldwide , leading to government intervention to transfer them to the national zoo.
