On the evening of May 20, the Buddhist Sangha of Ninh Binh province and Bai Dinh pagoda announced that they will welcome the relics of Buddha Shakyamuni from the morning of May 21.
The announcement stated that, according to the wishes of the people and Buddhist followers nationwide and based on Official Dispatch No. 405 of the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions - Government Committee for Religious Affairs, Bai Dinh Pagoda (Gia Vien District, Ninh Binh Province) was chosen as the next location for people to worship Buddha's relics.
The display time lasts from 8am on May 21 to 10am on May 22.
This is the fifth stop on the journey to enshrine Buddha's relics in Vietnam, after Thanh Tam Pagoda (HCMC), Ba Den Mountain (Tay Ninh), Quan Su Pagoda ( Hanoi ) and Tam Chuc Pagoda (Ha Nam).
At each location, tens of thousands of people and Buddhists flocked to respectfully worship the sacred treasure, the most sacred symbol in Buddhism.
The fact that Bai Dinh Pagoda - the most famous pagoda in Vietnam and Southeast Asia - was chosen as the next destination is not only suitable in terms of spirituality, space and architecture, but also demonstrates the desire to spread the spiritual and cultural values of Buddhism widely in the community.
Over the years, Bai Dinh Pagoda has always been a major pilgrimage destination for Buddhists at home and abroad, especially during spring festivals, Vesak Festival or international Buddhist events.
Previously, the Indian Embassy in Vietnam announced that the Indian Government agreed to extend the display period of Buddha's relics in Vietnam after May 21.
The extension and addition of a place of worship such as Bai Dinh Pagoda shows the great efforts of the two Governments of Vietnam - India and the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in creating conditions for people to access and worship the relics - a sacred symbol associated with faith, peace and enlightenment in Buddhism.
