Even before the 2025 New Year and the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Snake, many unique and unusual gift items have already been sought after and ordered in advance by businesses and consumers, including gold-leaf paintings and snake-shaped mascots.

At a Tet gift production facility in Tay Mo (Nam Tu Liem, Hanoi), paintings featuring the snake zodiac animal have been ordered by customers since the 9th lunar month. According to the business owner, customers tend to place orders early to avoid waiting during the Tet holiday season.

According to artisan Nguyen Tung Lam (Act Gold Company), his workshop has been producing gold-plated Tet gifts since 2019, and each year during this period, they receive many orders for Tet mascots and paintings, with hundreds of items per order.

In Eastern culture, snakes are symbols of good fortune, wealth, and wisdom, representing rebirth, transformation, and powerful resurgence.

The unique finished products here include a snake mascot measuring 35cm x 55cm x 69cm (priced at 99 million VND) and the smallest statue, measuring 19.5cm x 14cm x 25cm (8.8 million VND).

According to Mr. Tung Lam, when creating a mascot, in addition to ensuring aesthetic details on the body, attention must also be paid to expression and demeanor. For the snake of the Year of the Snake (2015), the eyes and mouth are designed to give a benevolent feeling, the head is facing upwards, and there are no fangs.

The product design was conceived and created specifically about 6 months before Tet (Lunar New Year).

Additionally, customers can also have gold leaf paintings made to their personal specifications. The artisans will design and create the image based on a photograph, then bring it to life with vivid, raised forms.

The painting of the pair of peacocks took about two weeks to design and create, and cost 250 million VND. Thin, shimmering gold leaf was meticulously crafted by the artisans on a black canvas and framed in elegant wood.
