He also stayed in the fields to kill weeds and golden apple snails before sowing. According to Mr. Hao, the summer-autumn crop usually ends in early September, so he chose short-term rice varieties such as HT1 and HT5 for sowing. Hopefully, with the crop calendar from Vinh An Agricultural Cooperative, his family's rice area will avoid the early floods in 2025, to achieve high productivity and quality.

Similar to Mr. Hao, Mr. Hoang Ngoc Vinh (Hien Si village, Phong Son commune) while harvesting the winter-spring rice crop received information from Nam Son Agricultural Cooperative about the crop calendar and encouragement to continue to "overcome the sun, overcome the rain" to successfully produce the summer-autumn crop in 2025. Therefore, during these days, Mr. Vinh carefully prepared the stages for producing the summer-autumn rice crop, especially the stages of land preparation and seed selection. This rice crop, Mr. Vinh bought Khang Dan, HT1, TH5 seeds for sowing. He said: "With many years of experience, growing the summer-autumn rice crop is considered a battle of wits for farmers. Because if you do not carefully calculate the stages, especially choosing seeds that are not suitable for the crop calendar and weather, it will be difficult to have a good harvest."

At this time, most farmers in Phong Dien town are proactive in all aspects of summer-autumn crop production. Despite the prolonged heat, they still try to stay in the fields to plant on schedule, ensuring that the rice will bloom from July 20-30 and be harvested before August 30.

Focus on care

According to information from the Phong Dien agricultural sector, in the summer-autumn crop of 2025, Phong Dien Town strives to plant about 4,900 hectares, a decrease of 50 hectares compared to the last winter-spring crop, and the expected yield is 6 tons/ha. Regarding the variety structure, the main groups of short-term and extremely short-term rice varieties are arranged, such as Khang Dan, TH5, KH1, HG12, HT1, PC6... In addition, the Town also distributes new promising rice varieties such as HG 244 in places with large sample fields.

Phong Dien Town Department of Agriculture and Environment directed Hien Luong Agricultural Cooperative and An Lo Cooperative, Phong Hien Ward to produce certified rice and organic rice at a rate of 100%. Vice Chairman of Phong Dien Town People's Committee Ho Don noted that for the 2025 summer-autumn crop to be successful, farmers need to do a good job of preparing the soil, treating straw and destroying pests in the fields. Pay attention to using biological products to decompose straw and apply advanced technical packages in production to reduce costs and implement farming methods that adapt to climate change. In particular, local agricultural cooperatives also need to step up propaganda and mobilize people to choose good quality rice varieties, helping plants to be healthy right from the beginning of the season. The production process must focus on applying mechanized solutions in sowing, using economical materials, with little loss and evaporation in the dry season.
